3 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: There is a wide variety of people at Denison. People usually look presentable and are interested in learning.

4 College Student

Guys & Girls: I find this question to be offensive to the class body. Why do you need to know how we look or dress? I will say we don't dress outrageously. Mostly like hipsters. But if you choose to dress differently no one cares, and no one will bother you. We are very open and accepting people. The interests of all students is to want to know more. To expand ourselves. Our interests vary from black holes to cosines and sines in calculus. Socially though, if you date someone everyone will know, and they will know when you both break up. It's a small school, and rumors and things go around quickly; sadly.

3 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: I enjoy all the people at this school. Most are very down to Earth

4 College Junior

Guys & Girls: I think Denison has a very eclectic group of students. People are generally good looking, but there isn't a specific look that summarizes a Denison student. There are "artsy" people, preppy people, and others who dress casually. Many students try to look good for classes (as in they put thought into their outfits and do not wear sweats). Denison has a lot of student athletes and people in Greek life, but playing a specific sport or being in a specific fraternity/sorority does not give someone a higher social status. There is definitely a large hookup culture, and not much dating.

5 College Junior

Guys & Girls: We are totally a prep school type of dress. Once you arrive on campus, you ca easily see what the latest fashion is trending.

Students are pretty mixed in their opinion about guys and girls, but pretty much everyone is satisfied. Some people think the girls are more attractive and end up settling for less-than-cute guys. But most of the guys here are very attractive, if you are into the preppy, polished, and well-groomed type. If you like guys who wear Nantucket red, Sperry shoes, and Vineyard Vines, Denison will be heaven for you. Since Denison is a small school, there is definitely a limited selection of guys and girls, but that does not mean they are not there! You just have to look and be open-minded. The best way to meet guys or girls is through parties or student organizations. While you may notice people in class, it is not usually the ideal place to meet someone. There are definitely more girls on campus, but no one seems to have a problem with finding a guy to hook up with if they wanted to. Hookups and relationships can get pretty complicated. Since Denison is so small, it is not uncommon for a person you may be dating or hooking up with to have hooked up with someone you know, which may get awkward. Also, you will definitely run into someone you have hooked up with while you are at Denison. There is absolutely no avoiding it, so be prepared for the awkwardness. The party atmosphere at Denison encourages some sexual promiscuity, and if you are a person who goes to parties, the odds are good that you can find someone to hook up with. Almost all relationships at Denison began with a hookup—it is simply the best way to meet people that are not in your classes. Hookups are very common, and you will probably experience a DFMO (dance floor makeout) at some point. Relationships can get awkward, since the likelihood of running into your ex on campus is high. Overall, hookups are common, and relationships are not extinct, just more difficult. Although relationships may be uncommon at Denison, most Denison alumni do end up marrying each other.

Social Scene
Socially, people are very outgoing and fun. If you are nice and like to have a good time, you will have no problem getting to know people at Denison and fitting in. Most students get along, but after sophomore year, sometimes it gets harder to get to know people since you have established your friend groups.
Hookups or Relationships?
The party scene is fairly strong—therefore, there are lots of hookups. Since there is not a lot to do on campus, people like to hook up. Usually, a hookup leads to a relationship if anything, but hooking up is the main way guys and girls meet each other.
Best Places to Meet Guys/Girls
It's difficult to say where the best place to meet people is. A lot of Denison students are really focused on their studies, so sometimes the best place to meet people can be in class. Otherwise, people like to hang out at Slayter and on the quads. Going to parties is one of the best ways to meet people, but you can also meet people at a showing of a DFS film or by running into people at the library. It all depends on your focus.
Dress Code
The dress code at Denison is fairly dressy. Denison's campus looks like a J.Crew catalog. If you look in the display window of any trendy store, you will see clothes that the majority of students at Denison wears. Khakis and polo shirts are common fare for men, and women are most commonly seen in pastels, jeans, and cute outfits. Definitely dress to impress at Denison.
