Guys & Girls: There is a wide variety of people at Denison. People usually look presentable and are interested in learning.

Local Atmosphere: Personally coming from a big city Granville is not all that fun, but you can defiantly make someone out of this little town if you look.

4 College Student

Athletics: Athletics is a big part of Denison. Some are defiantly overlooked, but the do play a big role in the student body life. I personally do not care much for them .

4 College Student

Transportation: You can sign up for shuttles, which are cars or vans that can drive you to malls, movies, or stores. It's free as well to do this. It just depends on how fluid your schedule it. They have a good amount of times to use them, and the time you can stay is a good amount.

5 College Student

Health & Safety: I know you can call some people to drive you to your dorm if you do not feel safe about walking back to your dorm.

4 College Student

Guys & Girls: I find this question to be offensive to the class body. Why do you need to know how we look or dress? I will say we don't dress outrageously. Mostly like hipsters. But if you choose to dress differently no one cares, and no one will bother you. We are very open and accepting people. The interests of all students is to want to know more. To expand ourselves. Our interests vary from black holes to cosines and sines in calculus. Socially though, if you date someone everyone will know, and they will know when you both break up. It's a small school, and rumors and things go around quickly; sadly.

Computers: You don't really need a laptop. For my first semester I did not have a laptop, I always went to the library and labs. It actually keeps you more focused when you have to use computers under a certain time. Even when the library is closed there are other buildings that are still open, and labs near housing buildings that you can use.

Off-Campus Housing: It is just better to stay on campus, you save much more money and you are near your classes.

4 College Student

Majors: A liberal arts education gives a variety of majors and field to pick from. I went from a sociology major to, now, considering a biology major.

4 College Student

Majors: It's not hard at all. You pick a program and just fill out the requirements. You have tutors, professors, writing centers, and much more resources to help you through courses.

3 College Student

Drug Safety: There are some who participate and some who don't. If you don't there are no pressures, if you do no one is stopping you. But Denison used to have Amnesty and they had gotten rid of it. Now people are less likely to go get help. But from my point of view I would rather get in trouble then not get help, especially if its a life or death decision.

Off-Campus Dining: Not a lot of options, unless you have a car to drive somewhere to eat.

Greek Life: Personally I believe the Greek Life portrays such a bad image of Denison. It feeds the status quota of what it is usually associated with what it means to be an American. It is not like this for all sororities. They cost a lot to join, they do have scholarships but they are limited. If these frats and sororities need money they can raise it other ways, it separates classes (rich and poor). Hazing is a big problem. Drinking is a problem in Greek Life. Out sororities and frats are separate from our multicultural ones. Though these are problems they do not directly affect Denison as a whole, but they do affect the people in them and associated with them. It is a secret problem no one talks about. Is what I personally believe in. They do create great connections for when you graduate, but anyone can build that by joining clubs or volunteer work. But also I feel Greek Life has changed for the good in some ways, they have a little diversity in them. Still so not as much as I would like them to have.

Nightlife: Parties are hectic and nasty. People get belligerently drunk and loud. There are many cases of sexual assault that go unnoticed. There are, though, many great events and activities outside of this factor. Such as musicals, plays, clubs, or NAKED WEEK. This is a week where people get naked and run through the campus to grow awareness for body image.

1 College Student

Weather: It's cold all the time, but it looks beautiful during fall and sumer. The rest of the year is grey and cold.

4 College Student

Scholarships: Denison is great, but it has issues with housing, the way they room people is a little unorthodox, and diversity, there is a lot of segregation in clubs and just the school population.

5 College Freshman

Health & Safety: Its very nice and pleasant.

3 College Freshman

Athletics: Our teams do fine in competitions, but the general hype for them is not very high.

Pretty much everyone who comes to Denison ends up absolutely falling in love with it. The academics at Denison are exceptionally superior and definitely challenging. If you are willing to work hard and play hard, you will find yourself extremely satisfied with Denison. The academics alone draw students to Denison, but the incredible experience, the unforgettable people, and the beautiful atmosphere keep them here. It is not hard to find a lot of people that are extremely passionate and thankful for their Denison education—just ask any Denison alum. Denison students are proud to be Denisonians, and they would not have it any other way. Denison is by no means perfect. You will find something that will bother you at one point or another, but that goes along with every school. You get what you give at Denison, and if you make the best of everything, you will have an incredible experience. Denison truly becomes your second home, and you will find yourself missing it when you are not on campus. Denison is unlike any other school: Not only do you live among all of your peers, but most people are also friends with their professors, which results in a true feeling of belonging. No one can deny that being good-naturedly teased by a professor doesn't engender feelings of acceptance. A lot of students also value the safety of the campus and how easy it is to get from place to place. The students that are unhappy with Denison are generally displeased with the small social scene, lack of diversity, or the immense workload—all things which are a matter of one's individual perspective. At the end of the day, one cannot deny that the academic opportunities at Denison are seriously incredible. Denison not only has countless opportunities to study abroad, but it also has an amazing internship program and unbeatable alumni connections, helping students network and get jobs after college. Overall, Denison has everything you need for the perfect college experience.
