3 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: A typical student at CUNY Queens College will typically make friends with others that look, dress and have similar social lives.

3 Recent Alumnus

Guys & Girls: There is a wide variety of looks & dress at my school. Most students dress casual with jeans, sneakers and T shirts. Others, like myself, attend classes in the evening and go straight from work so we are dressed in casual business attire.

3 College Junior

Guys & Girls: Some people are seen to be wearing some jeans, and a shirt, the people who play sports wear their sweat pants

4 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: Sororities stick together in their cliques. Everyone else seems to walk around in groups of 3 or more. Guys play on the quad. Fraternity guys walk in packs.

3 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: I cannot give an accurate review because I do not know a wide variety of people at campus, but there's a mix of the older and younger. The students are generally pleasant, but it's still a bit like high school where people fall into their own socializing groups and make it difficult or awkward for others to join in. There are the sorority girls and fraternity guys. It's amusing to see some of the fraternity activities but I didn't have a great experience when I had to work with a fraternity boy. None of the guys I've seen are anything special, same for the girls. The girls seem to generally be more open and friendly than the guys.

Though several students are satisfied with the social life on campus, others find it hard to meet people, and many find it easier to join a fraternity or sorority. According to the students who are dissatisfied, guys and girls hang out with those who have similar backgrounds. Though QC has just established dorms on campus, it is still considered a commuter school, and this likely makes a difference in the social scene.

There are an endless amount of clubs and organizations on campus, from religious groups to political organizations to sports clubs. This is a great way to meet people and expand social networks. There are a large number of Jewish and Muslim students on campus, although, of course, there are students from other backgrounds, as well, such as Christians, Buddhists, and Hindis. Because of the diversity on campus, there are hundreds of guys and girls with different looks and personalities, and many tend to be kind and open to meeting others. A lot of students date on campus, particularly during the summertime when students hang out outside and get the chance to meet each other.
