Campus Dining: The food on campus is unhealthy and expensive. A piece of chicken and a bottle of water is $12! Students asked for better options and they just opened a Nathans on campus. This is not giving us a healthier option.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Dining: They opened up a Nathan's instead of the main grill in the dining hall which is annoying to me because, honestly, who wants to eat that everyday?

4 College Sophomore

Campus Dining: Dining hall is one of the best thing do to the fact its proximity and very different option of food and there always friendly people to meet

2 College Sophomore

Campus Dining: Mon-Thurs there are two cafeterias. One of them is small and closes at 6pm. The other has a few options to choose from but a few of the options close early. The one that stays open the latest, closes at 7pm. Fridays-Sundays there is only one cafeteria open and only two options to choose from and they close at 3pm. I feel bad for those who dorm.

3 College Freshman

Campus Dining: I bring my own lunch, but otherwise there's also not much to see in regards to dining in the cafeteria.

Food on campus is not a highlight at QC. Although there are plenty of meat and dairy options, including kosher food, the cafeteria is only open until 8 p.m. (the Kosher Café until 7 p.m.) and only for a few hours on the weekends. Chartwells food service provider took over at Queens College in 2009. For students who live on campus, it's nice to have the cafeterias, and despite food being slightly overpriced, it's ideal for students to drop in for a "grab-'n-go" on their way to class.

If students are not on a meal plan, the food is pretty expensive, but many students prefer to do their own grocery shopping anyway. There are a few grocery stores only a few minutes from campus which are slightly pricey (because of their variety of kosher options), but these stores work for many of the religious orthodox students. Plus, if students shop correctly, homemade food can be cheaper and better tasting. Each dorm suite comes with a full kitchen, which is small but includes a full fridge and oven/stove top. Some students order their groceries from the online grocery store Peapod: (www.peapod.com).
