Computers: I do not have much experience with computer labs and printing on campus, but the wifi is excellent.

Computers: Computer access is excellent at Cornell. There are computers and printers available all over campus, so some of those who can't afford it actually can get by without a computer. Nevertheless, owning a laptop will make your life significantly easier and will always be a worthwhile investment. Since the labs and libraries eventually close, owning your own computer gives you the autonomy to chose when and where you want to work. Some majors also require purchasing a computer, such as Architecture and Computer Science. The free, networked, and discounted software is great, too, and will make having your own computer worthwhile.

Computers: There are lots of labs, but almost all are always filled up, even on Friday nights, especially during exam season. Wireless access is usually good, although some places that should have them lack them. The need for a personal computer is essential, as it is inconvenient not being able to work at your dorm or whenever you want. Some classes you need to bring your laptop to to take notes etc. Printing on campus is costly, but so is printing on your own. The inks are expensive.

Computers: The wifi is great, just make sure you don't torrent while using it!

Cornell's computing capabilities are top of the line. Most students agree that computer labs are easily accessible, convenient, and well equipped. All labs are outfitted with high speed Internet access (some with wireless) and any software you can think of. Operating systems include both Windows and Mac OS. Furthermore, the Cornell information technologies staff is extremely efficient about resolving problems and troubleshooting personal computing issues.

All libraries are outfitted with computer terminals where you can check e-mail on the run or send an instant message to a friend in between classes. Even though Cornell takes computing very seriously and recognizes the educational benefits of staying up-to-date on cutting-edge technologies, students will still benefit from having a personal computer, which will make their work that much more convenient and efficient. With a personal computer, you may still check in with on-campus services such as the Library Gateway.
