3 College Senior

Campus Strictness: The campus strictness at my school is just right. They keep us safe but let us have fun as well.

3 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: Slowly campus is becoming less strict as a whole because next year there is no visitation limitations for the dorms.

3 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: There isn't much strictness for alcohol and that type of stuff.

4 College Junior

Campus Strictness: It's strict, but it's easy to get around things if you really need/want to.

4 Recent Alumnus

Campus Strictness: I never really had any issues with strictness. They are firm in their policies but if you're smart about it the policies won't be an issue.

Concordia is a strict campus in terms of visitation and alcohol use. Students are only allowed on the opposite sex’s dorm floor until 1 a.m. on weekdays and 2 a.m. on weekends. This policy is enforced by resident advisers who go on periodic “rounds” in each dorm. Alcohol use is forbidden throughout the entire campus of Concordia, and enforcers adhere to this rule much like the visitation rules. Fines and academic probations will be issued to students unwilling or unable to follow the institution's rules. A somewhat unspoken rule, in some cases anyway, is the attendance policy. Professors expect you to be at every class and will sometimes even make grades dependent on it. Most classes are small, so it isn’t like skipping a lecture with one hundred or more students.

Concordia may be pretty strict with student life, but it is not difficult to live by the rules, and some students find them to be to their benefit. The RAs, though icons of authority, are extremely approachable and friendly, and there are always off-campus parties that students can go to where Concordia rules do not apply. This is what some students choose to do on weekends instead of risking receiving a violation for doing something illegal on campus.
