4 College Junior

Academic Experience: I am a business management major, but this is my first semester in this area. So far the program seems great, the teachers actually know what they are talking about, and how to teach the material from past experiences and I can tell they have tried new things to improve what they had. The curriculum is probably more broad than a larger school would be, but I think that would work better into a transferring students schedule at their future school.

Academic Experience: Registering for a class is a simple process. A counselor sits down with you and asks about your major, they look at what you took already, and ask where you want to be in the future. From there, they work with you to make sure you are on the right track and if not, they help to get you there. They give an option of classes and times available and work the school schedule around your personal life.

Overall Experience: My college experience is great. The classes are small, some smaller than my high school classes. The faculty is willing to work with students with problems that come up or to work around preset schedules. I was all set to go to Clarion University, but then the bill came. It was way too much for me to pay on my own, and I didn't think it would be worth it with how big of a school it was and how over half of my classes would have been online. Another issue with Clarion was that I was not completely sure of what I wanted to do, and I was worried about how hard it would be to change my major and get classes I took to fit into the schedule. I decided a week and a half before leaving it was not right for me. That is when I decided on CCBC. They didn't give me any troubles with registering so late, no problem getting a meeting with a counselor to schedule classes, and I even got all real classes, nothing online. I definitely would not change my mind about where I am now, but if I would have been told a year ago I would be at CCBC, I would not have believed them. I love my choice, and I'm proud to say I am a student of the Community College of Beaver County.

Academic Flexibility: I had an algebra teacher last semester who thought the end of the semester was a week before it actually was, and had a date set for the class final. When she realized her mistake it was only a few weeks before the date she had set. She changed the date, but said she would make herself available for students who already had plans on the new date. I don't remember anyone finding a new time to take the exam, but it was nice to know she was willing to work around our schedules for an important exam. I have other teachers who are understanding of leaving a little early for work, or children, or any other life situations that may come up.

5 College Junior

Tuition & Financial Aid: The school is already cheaper than most because it is a local community college, and I live in the area, but I still need some financial help because I don't want debt, and there are other purchases I need to make besides my college tuition, like books and supplies. I think the financial aid I received was fair, since it's all my responsibility to pay, and my family doesn't make enough money to put me through.

4 College Junior

Student Body: The school's student body is very diverse. The majority of them come from Beaver County because it is just a community college, but that helps every one stick together, because there is something common between most. A lot of the students know each other or have heard of each other in one way or another, either by past activities or through a mutual friend. Most of the students are friendly, but all are there for the main reason of getting a degree in their area to either transfer, or get a career.

5 College Junior

Facilities: The teachers on campus get a chance to know their students by name, and even get to have them for several classes. From what I've witnessed, they get to know some well enough to ask about personal life; for example, I had a teacher as a student/parent how her children and husband are because he taught the whole family. That put my nervousness at ease, because it is more of a relaxed setting than I feel a bigger college would be.

Career Services: There is a job board up in several places in the Student Services Center. They are open to anyone looking for a job. It is very useful for any level students, and graduates, and they give local jobs, and some that are farther away for the ones who don't live in the area. The staff helps in guiding students to their future careers, or in continuing education if that is what they choose.

4 College Junior

Campus Resources: The whole staff is willing to help with any questions. The student center has several resources, including great counselors who are very helpful and willing to work with students. The library has tutors at different points during the day, and computers open to students. I'm not a part of any activities, but I can tell the activity members are dedicated.

4 College Junior

Campus Resources: There is almost always a computer lab open. The computers can be used for homework and going on the school website, which is helpful for the students who don't have the newest updates, like Microsoft 2013, on their personal computers. Printing is not a problem, and the internet connection is better than I expected with the amount of students.

5 College Senior

Facilities: They have a great aviation program. So far I've been very pleased.

College Junior

Career Services: I have not used the career center as of yet. I only just began my first year of college a couple of months ago. After I am done at community college I plan to transfer to a four year university. I do not, and probably will not know much about the career center, alumni network, or job prospects provided by the Community College of Beaver County.

4 College Junior

Facilities: The Community College of Beaver County's facilities are modernized. They are always kept exceptionally clean. The campus life of the school is casual. Not many activities happen on campus.

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: The Community College of Beaver County always puts education first. They also always have the students best interests in mind. I have only been going to this school for a couple of months so I do not have many experiences or a definite opinion of the school as of yet.

3 College Junior

Campus Resources: The college's campus is easy to navigate. The campus has a nicely stocked library. The college's campus does not hold very many activities, but the gym is always kept in great shape.

2 College Junior

Campus Resources: The wi-fi at my school is not always working at it's very best. Printing on campus is not reliable. The college's Blackboard always seems to be experiencing glitches.
