Academic Experience: job opportunities include all the pathways that I discussed earlier.

Campus Resources: The library is a quite place filled with great resources. the Gym is our athletic center, its got a weight room which is a great thing for athletes. We have the same activities as every other high school; big football games, homecoming, homecoming week, prom, senior week, field trips, etc.

4 College Senior

Campus Resources: the computer labs are quite good, the internet connection is quite slow but that is quite alright. the printers work magnificent.

Facilities: Jordan around Columbus Georgia has been known as " the bottom of the food chain". Our academic program is excellent we just have had some lazy athletes. Jordan is an older school and its very old . The desks aren't up to 21st century style but hey it works. Campus life I could say could be more up beat but the students there are amazing. Opportunities at Jordan include the Construction pathway, FCCLA, FBLA, DRAMA, CHORUS, BAND,COLOR GUARD, the healthcare pathway, and of course the culinary pathway.

Overall Experience: Before I went to Jordan I wanted to go to Hardaway, but after my first day, I liked it. The teachers are respectful and they are so laid back. They do discipline you and one teacher I give my upmost praise to, is Mrs. Charmaine Kalpen.

That woman has taught me about reality before I experienced it on my own without the knowledge. My favorite experience is seeing the amount of creativity that is administered around Jordan High School. My school is unique because you meet people whom, just by a look you wouldn't realize their story of how they really were behind closed doors if you had not talked to them and just judged them first hand. If I could go back and do it all over again, yes I sure would choose Jordan . This school is where I feel like I fit in. I love going to school the teachers are so understandable. They make you feel like you belong, and I'm so proud to be a soon to be Jordan alumni. Red Jacket for life. !

Online Courses: In a high school sense, College is not anything I expected. When my teachers in high school told me that college is not anything to mess around with , they were right and honestly I wasn't ready and to this day I wish I would've listened to them and if I could go back I would. My college instructors are great people they work with you on all types of situations. I thank them for giving me this opportunity because this opportunity does not come around often. I'm forever grateful .

Student Body: It's unbelievable how my classes are at Columbus tech seeing all the students interacting with each other and helping out through team work is something worth seeing. I'm very lucky to be able to experience this learning environment with my fellow student body.

3 College Senior

Academic Flexibility: I do have to say that the first day was some what quite confusing. Our schedule as high school students was pretty confusing but other than that I think its a great experience, and I love going to class everyday it gives me the learning experience I've been intending to see forth.

Tuition & Financial Aid: The people at Columbus tech are great with helping younger adults through their financial aid help.

Career Services: I am currently in high school I take classes at Columbus technical college in Columbus Georgia for my CNA certificate. I love Columbus tech. It is a great school and I'm ever so grateful to have become a student there with my high school. It is a great opportunity for me.

Student Body: Medical students are usually are in a seperate building. Very quiet, very clean, very good education.

This medical building was built recently, and medical classes were added to the curriculum.

I was a medical major before switching to the tech field.

The medical building is an entirely different world.

I never really thought of it before.

Heaven and Hell

3 College Junior

Career Services: I don't know of any post grad services at my school.

I've had two teachers who have told me they would be okay with giving me recommendations for a job, but that is it.

3 College Junior

Campus Resources: Very inconsistent. Sometimes it's very fast, and sometimes it's very slow.

There is a network named Students-Wireless that is locked, and no-one knows why.

Overall it is better than the local Mcdonalds, but not the best.

3 College Junior

Campus Resources: The student center is very unregulated, and things are stolen often. It has vending machines, tables, and chairs. Tv's are available, but we have been yelled at for using them. But even if we could manage to use them, we would have to turn it up loud in order to hear over the students who are often yelling or talking loudly to eachother.

At least we have internet access.

Academic Flexibility: At the beginning of my college career, me and my mother talked to a councilor about the transfer of credits to a University.

We were told that many credits earned at this school weren't applicable for transfer.

I have been looking into this further recently, because I've almost finished my degree program.

I have no details yet, but I am hoping to be able to transfer at least some credits to a university after i graduate.

3 College Junior

Academic Experience: There are study areas at my school designated to Math, Computers, Writing, and Sciences.

These areas are generally friendly and helpful and cover every area needed for the curriculum except for social sciences.

Professors at my school are either very good or very bad.

Class registration is easy, although the website in which you register on is sometimes down for days, or unstable.

Academic Experience: Being a Networking Specialist at Columbus Tech is interesting.

Once you get through prerequisite courses like Comp 1000, which is required for many majors, your classroom environment seems to straighten up a bit. Computer classes become a small haven of quiet people who just want to do work, like a normal college student should.

In other classes, such as English, where people from different majors are mixed together, you are put into a highly combustible and talkative environment where concentration is hard to find.

I've witnessed two classes like this where the teacher has had an extremely hard time teaching over the students who are doing their own collective "thing".

Public school was constantly like this.

2 College Junior

Overall Experience: I've sat in on classes at a university, and they were refreshing.

After being in classes with teachers who don't know their own subject, and who sometimes might spend a day not teaching at all, seeing and hearing a teacher at a university teach something well and stay on topic felt like heaven.

If I wasn't in the middle of dual majoring, I would switch schools.

3 College Junior

Online Courses: Online classes are at home.

Away from a chaotic campus of loud students who talk about guns and drugs.

Online classes give more flexibility in due dates, easier grading for teachers, and are generally more manageable time-wise.

But you could say that about any online class taken at any college.

The online classes at Columbus tech are not particularly special in any way.

Facilities: I've only ever been to Technical College. I can't expect the campus, or anything, to be large and grandiose. Or even impressive.

I hate many aspects of my school.

The teacher quality, the organization, and the general mood just stresses me out.

But the redeeming shining light I see in it is the fact that it provides an education to lower income minorities who would not have access to higher education otherwise.

That is the only positive aspect that sets it apart from other schools.

The rest are generally negative.

Tuition & Financial Aid: This might not be exactly what you're asking, but...

Most of the students at Columbus Tech qualify for the pell grant. The Pell grant is based on your income. If you have low income, you have a good chance at qualifying.

I do not qualify for this grant. I live with my parents who are both decently well off, financially.

I applied for a work study job at Columbus Tech helping people with their computer classes in the computer support lab.

I thought I could raise some money from this, to help my family pay for my tuition, but I soon found out that only Pell eligible students can be paid for working in these work study programs.

This does not make sense to me.

Many of the Pell eligible students at my school abuse their grant money. Some students come to school just to receive the grant.

These finances need to be more regulated.

Tuition & Financial Aid: If I were to have to pay full regular college tuition plus books there would be absolutely no way I go back to school. There would be no way I could even go back at this time if it were not for the HOPE GRANT that we have here in Georgia. It is still going to be a challenge because I am a 50 year old mother of 2 children going through a divorce without having worked for 20 years. When I graduated Columbus Tech. in 1996 I married and chose to marry and start a family and also became a foster parent. Now I need to be able to go back to school full time, raise 2 children, and work. So financial aid is very important for me. They have an office that does nothing but help you fill out your paper work for financial aid so it gets done right the first time so that you can get started with your classes on time and get your check for books. I have not ever gotten enough money to cover my books. They are so expensive! I would say the school like a business. They have a very good custumer Service base from start to finish. A very good foundation!

Academic Flexibility: Columbus Technical College is now on the semister system so credits will transfer over to Columbus College State here in Columbus as well so I would not have to retake any classes wasting time and money. Columbus Tech has always been able to offer a very good schedule for me and the instructors are always willing to work with their students. They also have counseling and tutoring available for students which is wonderful for people like myself that have been out of school for a long period of time. They are very helpful. Columbus Tech is also very convenient for me. It it only about seven minutes from my home!

Campus Resources: I love the fact that I am able to use my school library to do homework research. We also have a student center where you can go to meet other students and also get help from other students.
