New York City has tons of great things to offer for culinary explorers, ranging from greasy dumplings in cramped Chinatown dives to five-star triple-figure dining experiences at swanky restaurants. Morningside Heights offers less exciting fare, but has a fair amount of variety for a small area. There are a handful of restaurants near Columbia, some of which are cheap, some of which are delicious, and few of which are both.
That being said, the convenience of food is often a determining factor for Columbia students. This means that delis such as Hamilton Deli, Milano Market, and Westside Market are crowded at lunch and dinner times, with students grabbing a sandwich or salad to try to smuggle into a library. These are popular options amongst students, as are diners such as Deluxe and the enormous-yet-cheap-and-convenient slices of pizza from Koronet.
