Off-Campus Dining: I have been around to some Off-Campus Restaurants. A large number are large food chain options, but smaller local businesses abound.

Weather: It is a convenient walk to campus for the most part. The campus owns quite a bit of property used for on campus apartments for graduate/seminary students and their families. There are also dorms for men and women in the undergrad sector of the school. Ben Lippen school, a Christian K-12 school also resides on the campus of CIU. It has been around since the 1940s. When weather conditions get rough CIU normally follows the lead of USC by closing down the school until inclement weather goes away so classes can resume. South Carolina is mostly a sunny and warm atmosphere in the south with varying temperatures in the winter.

Nightlife: Columbia International University is a Christian University, so our core values determine much about our life and conduct as students of CIU. CIU is focused on developing Christian Servant Leaders who impact the world with the message of Christ in their professional vocations as well as ministry based activities in churches, parachurch organizations, and mission agencies. The atmosphere is relatively quiet due to the intense amount of studying that is done around the campus library.

Local Atmosphere: There are a vast amount of retail chains here in the city of Columbia. The city has numerous schools, which include University of South Carolina, Benedict College, Columbia College, and Columbia International University to name a few. For Jackson Military Museum is close by on the western side of the city. There is a Central Midlands Regional Transit Authority to assist passengers to areas within the city of Columbia to work or home. This is certainly a bustling college city in the heart of South Carolina. The USC mascot is the Carolina Gamecocks. My particular school is the CIU Rams. Columbia International University is a private institution that offers degrees at the Bachelor's and Master's Level. They also provide certain Doctoral Programs as well. Dutch Square Mall is a common shopping facility for many people in the city. There is a bowling alley not far from Bush River Road in the city of Columbia. The downtown has historic charm and a Greek Orthodox Church building in the area. Sami's Deli is a great place to try Greek food downtown as well as a local sandwich shop in the area as well. The major sports here would be football and basketball. Columbia International University is more into soccer, cross country, and basketball...one of its newest programs developed in recent years. Many locals attitudes toward students appear to be positive. Many renters seek out CIU students for living arrangements for homes that they own.

Campus Housing: The housing is nice. This is my first time living on campus so I'm just enjoying it. The students in my dorm are wonderful, we all get along and the atmosphere is wonderful. Its very costly especially if you don't have much, but God always provides.

Weather: Here is the South the weather is not bad at all.

3 College Student

Nightlife: This college is a Christian university so there is no nightlife.

Campus Dining: Campus dining is ok not the best but it will do. Everyone eats and the same time and the cafe close at a certain time everyday. So if you miss breakfast, lunch, or dinner at the given time thats it.

Computers: We have one Computer lab, it's rarely full because most students have laptop. Laptops are mandatory for some classes. At the library if you don't have your personal computer you can rent on for an hour. Other than that the network is fast and reliable, some sites are block which is understandable.

Overall Experience: So far at Columbia International University my overall experience is great. Other than finding money for tuition I love it. The atmosphere is great, the classes are well taught, and the college life is great.

4 College Student

Majors: I love my Major, don't think I could choose a next one. My career goals are to become a child psychology, counseling in schools and homes.

3 College Student

Parking: Parking is not to bad, the fact that we have to register and pay for a parking sticker is a lot. One thing I found out the hard way was you can't reverse your car in.

3 College Student

Greek Life: I really don't hear much about Greek students on campus. Also there is no fraternity or sorority on campus.

4 College Student

Local Atmosphere: The campus it self is great, wonderful atmosphere. There is really nothing to do off campus especially for a transfer student who don't know much about the area. The campus is very isolated form everything, you have to drive some miles to see city life.

3 College Student

Athletics: Being this is the first year Columbia International University have an athletic board, is still getting started. Students do participate in intramural, but its not as big as the basketball, and soccer games.

5 College Student

Transportation: The campus is not to big, so we can't walk everywhere. The only time a car is needed is if your going off campus.

5 College Freshman

Computers: Plenty of labs, areas to print, etc. Network/wireless is fast and reliable. Library has laptops to rent, but it is helpful to have your own computer.

4 College Freshman

Diversity: People come to CIU from all over the world; variety of ethnicities, races, and backgrounds. Political beliefs vary, but people at this school are Christians (it is a Bible school).

5 College Freshman

Parking: Plenty of parking, low cost for a permit, and near to everything.

5 College Freshman

Health & Safety: Small school with good security, very aware, and the health services on campus are good and available.

College Freshman

Nightlife: School standards are against the bar and club scene.

4 College Freshman

Weather: Campus is so small that the weather doesn't affect things much.

4 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: Relationships are better at CIU. Perspectives on relationships are often very different for believers at this Bible college.

4 College Freshman

Majors: Love the program. It is preparing me to teach English overseas, and I'm so impressed with the professors and material.

College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: I live on campus, so I do not know much about off-campus housing. It is a small school, so many who do not live in the dorms like in apartments offered on campus.
