5 College Sophomore

Diversity: One thing I love the most about Columbia is that it is extremely diverse. It's such a different setting. I've met so many different kinds of people.

4 College Sophomore

Nightlife: The school throws great on campus parties, they usually end up over capacity because everyone goes.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: As long as you follow the rules it'll be easy. Everyone's so nice.

1 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: We don't have off-campus housing, through the school. It's in the middle of the south loop, downtown Chicago. You can try to find an apartment if you want. But it'll probably be very expensive.

2 College Sophomore

Athletics: We don't have competitive teams, I wish we did. I used to be a volleyball player, until college. We have teams, but they just play for fun. No one really pays any attention to them.

5 College Sophomore

Facilities: Columbia is a beautifully constructed campus. You really feel like you're surrounded in an "artsy" environment. You're inspired pretty much any where you go.

3 College Sophomore

Scholarships: Starting to apply as early as possible will greatly benefit you.

3 College Sophomore

Scholarships: What's good is that if you have questions, you can call Student Financial Services and they'll help you as much as they can. It's annoying to have to wait though.

3 College Sophomore

Athletics: There are only club teams, no official division sports

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: Columbia College's campus offers a variety of different dinning options. From fast-food, to fancy restaurants, to ethnic cuisines, all available at any price range.

Overall Experience: Columbia College's professors know their stuff because they work in the fields they teach. Real-world experience is brought into the classroom.

4 College Freshman

Overall Experience: Internships and jobs are readily available. Columbia College has a lot of connections and it's campus is in the heart of Chicago.

5 College Freshman

Diversity: Columbia College Chicago takes pride in it's diversity, and it shows. At Columbia you can meet people of every race, economic status, sexual orientation, sexual identification and so on.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: I haven't gone through the process of finding off-campus housing yet, so I am unaware of the pros and cons one might face. However, it's Chicago, there are going to be apartments available.

3 College Freshman

Nightlife: I don't go to too many clubs and bars, so I can't really give an opinion on this one.

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: I got some financial aid money, but for the most part I had to go elsewhere for money.

3 College Freshman

Health & Safety: It's Chicago and Chicago is a major city, and major cities always have a safety problem. But the concerns I have for my personal safety would apply if I was anywhere. Columbia College has a ton of security on campus that tour 24/7.

5 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: Chicago is an amazing city with lots of stuff to do and see. Columbia College being in the South Loop opens up loads of entertainment options for students.

4 College Freshman

Campus Dining: As far as cafeteria style food goes, it's pretty good, and the price for a years worth of food isn't terrible.

1 College Freshman

Athletics: Columbia College Chicago is a Liberal Arts school. Sports are no ones main focus. All sports are student lead.

3 College Sophomore

Majors: Make sure you apply early or on time so you get the best possible chance of being placed in the right class. Look open and willing to learn at the audition and don't stress. Columbia doesn't make you audition for dance so you are already in the school. the only thing you need to worry about auditioning is making yourself look good so you place in a higher level.

4 College Sophomore

Majors: I enjoy the dance program because of the opportunities it presents and the networking i do on a daily basis. It is frustrating to me because of personal reasons. It is great if you want to talk to people that have achieved success in the dance world.

5 College Sophomore

Facilities: Columbia as a plethora of options. its great

4 College Sophomore

Scholarships: Always go to student financial services and your golden.

4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: Chicago is huge, there is something for everyone.

Columbia College is Chicago's best-kept secret. The College can be a great asset for many students, but it's important to remember that Columbia is what it is—an art school specializing in media art. It is one of the fastest paced colleges in the United States, with some of the most up-to-date technologies on the market. It is a place that will make or break you. When you come to Columbia, you will either work harder than you have in your entire life and become somebody, or you will realize that you have another dream. Columbia will not joke around with you. Everything here is very real. Everywhere you go on campus unconsciously puts off an energy uttering the phrase, "roll up your sleeves and get to work." In every classroom, faculty member, and assignment, there is truth to your work and how your life will be if you truly want to work in the field you have come to Chicago to study. Coming to Columbia is an investment in your future and worth every penny you shell out of your pocket.

Columbia students work hard. There is passion in what they do. On the weekends, yes, they go out with friends, but more than likely what they are talking about is not how the football team did, or what happened to so and so—it's about projects, life, ideas, film shoots, pictures, shows, and stories. This is a grown-up campus committed to getting you where you want to be, but only if you are willing to put in the work.
