Local Atmosphere: Fort Collins is a fantastic city. There's affordable options for every budget, but a really stupid rule limiting a house to three unrelated persons, so you won't get the super super cheap options of splitting rent four or five ways without breaking the law. And yes, that's strictly enforced, so trying to get around it is REALLY not recommended. The city's atmosphere is great; there's plenty to do and a great community.

Local Atmosphere: I love Fort Collins and the Colorado State University atmosphere. The local community is friendly and safe. It offers entertainment and high community engagement. Also there is nearby hiking, fishing, skiing, biking, and many other mountainous sports and fun city related activities as well including: skate parks, golf courses, and movie theaters.
