Nightlife: If considering the size of our school, our party scene is pretty good. There is at least one or two open parties every weekend, if you so desire to be a part of that. They are all on campus, which has both positive and negative aspects. Campus security generally shows up more than Wooster police, which is good. If you are underage, you can go to any of the parties as well. Often, COW cards are checked at the door and your hands are marked if you are underage. New party rules on campus require party monitors to be at every party and every party to submit a form stating when the party will take place. There aren't really any options to go off campus, other than Leroy's, which only people 21 and over can really go to.

College Freshman

Nightlife: I know there are parties that go on, and a lot of people enjoy them, but I've never gone to a party here! I prefer to spend time with my friends ordering take out, watching movies, and relaxing on the weekends!

3 College Junior

Nightlife: Wooster is a quaint town. There are several options on campus of night life depending on what your style of nightlife includes. Greek life hosts a variety of campus wide open events. Downtown Wooster there are lots of tiny bars and places to eat that are high-quality and affordable. This is not a metropolitan area nor does it claim to be. The night life fun comes from people spending time with one another. A Wooster experience in many respects does not require the glitz and glam of clubs.

4 College Sophomore

Nightlife: There are parties every weekend usually on both Friday and Saturday and sometimes on Woo Wednesday. There is also I.S. Monday which is the day all the seniors have to turn in their I.S.. The only transportation are taxis but everything is within walking distance. There are a few popular bars around the town and we have our own campus club that serves alcohol to students of age. There are alternatives for those that don't like to party. There is a club called common grounds that have events every weekend that are fun alternatives to partying.

3 College Senior

Nightlife: Not only do we have Greek and sports teams that throw parties, there are UG (the Underground) dance parties every Friday for 18+ older students!

At Wooster, students party on campus—going to house parties, the Underground, or even just their friend's dorm room. Every weekend, there is usually a party thrown by a different organization or Greek group. And if not, students don’t mind throwing their own with their hallmates. The Underground is popular on Friday nights, but as you become an upperclassman, it becomes less appealing to go for the dance party; seniors usually stick to UG happy hour instead. When students do go off campus for nightlife, they go out for drinks at the local restaurants and bars. There are a lot of restaurants uptown that have drink specials, and Wooster students especially enjoy El Campesino's Wednesday night $2 margarita deal. It is only an $8 cab ride uptown, which a group of friends often split.

But, if you don't drink, don't think that you aren't welcome at Wooster's party scene. The parties at Wooster are what you make of them. And if you're with your friends and having fun, that's all that matters. There are also plenty of substance-free activities and events held on the weekends for students who prefer to steer clear of the party scene entirely.

Organization Parties
Almost every club and organization on campus throws parties, and usually these are open to the entire campus. Groups will hang up signs or send out emails about their event, and word travels fast on Wooster's campus. Phi Sigma Alpha, one of the fraternities, throws a party every year called "Lumberjack." They rent out a camp site, make a bonfire, and have music and beer. Students can camp out all night, or go back to campus on the "Safe Rides" provided by the fraternity. The whole campus is invited, but if you're under 21, you aren't allowed to drink.
Did You Know?
The College forbids drinking games on campus, and any student caught playing a drinking game can face disciplinary action.

Club ListingsWhat's This?

The College Underground

Both a club and a bar, the Underground is where you will find many of your friends on the weekends. It is open Fridays and Saturdays for happy hour, and then everyone will start to arrive to dance. Usually, whether or not you're 21, "the UG" is a place to start your night before moving on to other parties. On nights when there are no parties to be found on campus, everyone flocks to the UG, and then it feels like a huge, sweaty dance club-almost like a real place you would go to in the city.
