1 College Freshman

Nightlife: On the weekends:

* The Jitney (student transportation) is behind schedule.

* Parties happen (with tons of drinking)

* The school sponsored events are rarely attended.

The options you have are 1) drink alcohol, 2) drink alcohol or 3) study in your room/try to sleep/watch netflix or movies.

4 College Freshman

Nightlife: Lots of alcohol, but there is no peer pressure to drink. Parties are generally in dorm rooms, but are open to whoever wants to go regardless of whether you know the owner of the room.

1 College Sophomore

Nightlife: If you're under 21, there are sweaty, gross, slimy parties with the underclassmen who really just want to hook up with as many people as possible. If that's your thing, cool. It's not mine.

3 Recent Alumnus

Nightlife: There are parties from Thursday to Saturday. There are alternative options for people who do not drink alcohol.

4 College Sophomore

Nightlife: A lot of the clubs on campus have parties, but they are exclusive. However, there is always a party that can be found somewhere on campus. The pub is for students 21 and older, but parties in dorm rooms are common.

Colby students like to relax after a stressful week of work. Some choose to do this by partying and drinking both nights of the weekend, but most go out more occasionally and instead hang out with an intimate group of friends. Small parties that can fit into dorm rooms without arousing too much suspicion from security are abundant on campus. Huge parties happen almost every weekend at off-campus houses or in the senior apartments, or Colby's Student Programming Board throws a big event like a dance or concert. Security has gotten tighter about busting unregistered parties. There is a party host system, which means that trained party hosts can have lots of people and alcohol in their room without getting in trouble, but it’s an unpaid and risky position, so registered parties are few and far between.

There is always something to do on campus, and Colby ensures there is always a chem-free option on the weekends. Usually there are concerts, performances, dances, movies on campus, or other functions facilitated by Colby. Students 21 or older who live on campus will visit the Pub, while the ones who live off campus find it easier to frequent the bars and taverns of Waterville. Many choose not to drink, and there is certainly no peer pressure to do so.

Organization Parties
Some sports teams will throw parties, which usually consist of too many bottles of Mad Dog in the woods before dinner. Outsiders are very much not invited to these shindigs, but if you see exceptionally drunk athletes stumbling toward a dining hall, you can pretty much assume they are coming from a sports party. Cast parties after student performances tend to be just as loud but usually take place in a big dorm room or the senior apartments and are therefore slightly less obvious.

The Pub is only open to students 21 and up on weekends. It serves decent pub food and is as close to student life as possible, making the Bluelight the most-frequented Colby nightspot.

What to Do if You're Not 21What's This?

Underage students bounce around dorms and the senior apartments on the weekends. Just don't try to get into bars or the Pub-they are good at spotting fakes.
