3 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: It is hard to find off-campus housing at a reasonable price in Cedar Rapids. Coe offers apartment-style housing that does not require a meal plan. This is a useful tool to utilize as a person with financial needs.

2 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: Coe is a school of less than 2,000 students. Because of this, Coe can (almost) house all of it's students on campus. Therefore, the resources and availability of moving off-campus are more limited. Living on campus is better at this school anyways.

College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: Very few students live off campus unless they are commuters. It is easier to live on campus because otherwise you may feel excluded from campus activities.

3 College Student

Off-Campus Housing: Coe doesnt allow you to live off campus unless you live in cedar rapids already

College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: Coe is a residential campus, so very few students choose to live off campus. Usually the only ones that do either live in the area with their parents, or are a non-traditional student that lives with their spouse/family.

Coe has a high percentage of students living on campus, with nearly 85 percent of Kohawks residing in residence halls or campus-owned housing. Those that live off campus mostly include international students. At the end of every semester, students have the option to switch their campus housing. Students usually change present roommates to more compatible ones. However, those interested in moving off campus should see Residence Life for proper advisement.

Students living off campus have apartments located within walking distance from Coe. Suffice it to say, security on campus is likely to be better than security in off-campus housing, depending on which neighborhood a student inhabits. There are occasional rumors of theft in off-campus apartments; however, many students still choose off-campus housing because of the lower living expenses compared to on-campus living.
