Meals are offered at two different places on campus: The "U" and Charlie's. While The "U" is the most popular of the two, students definitely enjoy hanging out with friends at Charlie's. The cafeteria and Charlie's are both well-lit and nicely furnished. The cafeteria is subdivided into: granary (bagels, breads, cereals), classics (home-style), grill (grilled and vegetarian items), deli bar (lunch meats, salad spreads), salad bar (greens, salads, toppings), pasta (noodles, sauce), dessert (bars, cakes, cookies, fresh fruit, ice cream), and beverages (cappuccino, coffee, juices, milks, sodas). The classics section is the most sought-after area, and it's the only place where students really stand in line. However, classics is also the area that students seem to complain about the most because of its lack of variety. Every three days, the same type of meal combination is served; thus, many students prefer to eat at Charlie's on the weekends.
Meal plans are mandatory for students living on campus in residence halls. Dining Services provides options for students to enroll in either 11-,16-, or 20-meals-per-week programs, with the meal plans also consisting of Coe Cash worth $100, $75, and $25 respectively (most students prefer the 16-per-week meal plan). There is also the "customizable" plan that includes 160 meals per semester or a conversion-meal rate into increments of Coe Cash.
