4 College Sophomore

Facilities: Many of the buildings have been recently updated, and the older buildings add to the history and charm of the school. An opportunity to take a class in one of the original academic buildings is a treat.

5 College Junior

Facilities: Clemson has such a unique atmosphere. Campus radiates happiness and I enjoy walking around campus between classes just because it is so peaceful. I love that our downtown area is essentially on campus so we have the opportunity to go grab lunch and relax between classes.

5 College Junior

Facilities: I love studying in the library because it feels homey - you always see someone you know and I can always focus and get work done when I'm there. Fike is such an awesome facility and I know a lot of people who work out there almost every day.

3 College Senior

Facilities: People find ways to waste time.

4 College Sophomore

Facilities: There are plenty of open areas for the great days in the fall and spring time to be outside and have fun. The gyms and pool are great.

Students are satisfied with the facilities at Clemson, and they are appreciative of the renovations that have taken place in the past couple years. Remodeled athletic facilities such as the Littlejohn Coliseum (basketball), Tiger Field (baseball), and Clemson Memorial Stadium, also known as "Death Valley," make any competition worth attending.

It seems like there is always yellow tape somewhere on campus-the construction is never-ending. The most recent addition to the campus scenery is the Hendrix Student Center. The Fike Recreation Center was newly renovated for the 2003-2004 academic year. Although a lot of the facilities are aging, one must only walk across campus to see that Clemson is perpetually engaged in improving its services to students. Within the next year or two, the facilities provided to incoming students should be incredible.

Traditions
  • The First Friday Parade: Every Friday afternoon before the first home football game, a parade is held to celebrate the new football season. This has been a tradition at Clemson since 1974. Students make floats and parade down the street. At the end of the parade, there is a pep rally.
  • Homecoming and Tigerama: A week before Homecoming, many different student organizations create displays that will be judged on the day of the game. Also on game day, Tigerama is held. Tigerama is the largest student-run pep rally, and it includes the crowning of Miss Homecoming and student-performed skits.
  • Howard's Rock: Originally in Death Valley, this rock made its way to Clemson in 1966 via 1919 Alumnus S. C. Jones. It was placed on the top of the hill, by the football stadium. Coach Frank Howard told his players before a Wake Forest game that if they gave more than their best effort that they could touch the rock. With a victory of 26-3, the players all rubbed the rock. Ever since then, it has been a tradition to rub Howard's Rock before every home game.
  • Running Down the Hill: Called "the most exciting 25 seconds in college football," this tradition began when it was actually necessary for the players to run down the Hill and onto the field. That was before the west stands were built, though. However, the Clemson Tigers still run down the grassy field before each home game after a cannon is fired.
