Overall Experience: Pretty Good – After joining a number of clubs and organizations that I am interested in, I have met an awesome group of people who share my interests and values. There are a number of ways to get involved, and there is always a fun event going on at the campus. The classes are not too difficult if you put in the time and work hard. The library offers an excellent place to study, as well as lounges in the dorms. There are a lot of people who party, but it is still possible to have fun without drinking.

Majors: The variety of majors at Clemson is phenomenal. And most of them are award-winning and the faculty is full of knowledgable professionals who are willing and able to provide assistance to students.

Academics: Acadmics Outstanding – Everything about Clemson's academics is outstanding. They've won numerous awards, and continue to dazzle.

Weather: Can't Beat It! The weather here rocks! Yes it's hot in the summer, but there are two lakes nearby and plenty of pools at the off campus apartments to cool you down! Fall and Spring are beautiful - with the plentiful trees, the colors during these seasons can't be beat! You do need a bit of everything when it comes to clothes, as there is plenty of rain in the spring, heat in the summer and chilly nights and days in the fall and winter. And did I mention every fall the Clemson Tigers play football! You just can't get a better experience with a fall football game, tailgating and a gorgeous fall day.

Parking: There is always parking on campus, but you may have to park very far away and take the CAT bus, which will drop you off close to your destination. Be sure to get to campus about 20-30 minutes early if you're driving! Permits are expensive ($100+) and tickets can get costly if you wait past 10-15 days to pay them. If you live on campus or in an on-campus apartment, you don't need a car.

Scholarships: Relatively Smooth Process – Financial assistance for my first year at Clemson was okay. It definitely could have been better. However, the process was smooth with everything done online. Soon after FAFSA's are processed by the school, they email you about your financial aid for the next school year. You can choose to accept or decline any loans/scholarships. Throughout the summer, you should look out for emails in case they make any changes to your financial aid. By the end of summer they may give you more scholarships than they had originally awarded you at the beginning of the summer. Even if you accept the original award, you can accept the newer award.

Majors: Relatively Easy – At Clemson, there was no separate application for applying as an engineering major. After the first year in general engineering, you declare your specific engineering major, such as chemical engineering. As long as you had a certain grade point ratio at the end of your first year, you were accepted into the desired engineering field.

Majors: Smooth Transition Into College Studies – At Clemson University, all engineering majors are required to first apply as a general engineering major. Within this major, all students learn the basics relevant to each engineering field. This allows for a smooth transition between high school math and science to the basic applications of calculus, chemistry, biology, and physics (the math and sciences learned in high school). Instead of delving right into challenging engineering problems, this program helps freshman achieve a solid understanding of the important basics. It also allows students to have a little taste of each engineering field to help those undecided determine which engineering career they want to pursue or even to change majors if they so desire.

Weather: Beautiful Places and Smiling Faces – South Carolina's state motto is "Beautiful Places and Smiling Faces" and Clemson is definitely full of both. Clemson weather is typical of the south. The summers are hot; fall and spring are warm (around 70s); and winters are mild. We occasionally get snow, but it is rare.

Academics: Great University from Great Professors – Clemson professors are excellent. I have had awesome teachers in all my classes, especially the courses offered by the Calhoun Honors College. Clemson requires students to take a number of general education courses, so you will get to take a wide range of courses, not just your major courses.
All Clemson majors are designed to be completed in four years; however, courses are designed to be hard. Clemson wants its students to be hard working and successful.

Parking: Don't Be Afraid to Drive – Clemson has an excellent bus system that goes to all major apartment complexes in the area, but if you want to drive, there is plenty of parking on campus. Freshmen are required to live on campus, so you won't have to worry about commuting every day. Still, you can have a car on campus all four years. The residential parking lots are farther away compared to commuter but still reasonable.
Clemson students don't need cars, though. Most places are within walking distance, but if you need to go farther out, the bus routes go into most local areas.
Parking services are fairly strict about parking space rules, but the fines are reasonable and cheap if you pay them quickly.

Academics: Interesting Work, Interested Professors – Clemson's professors care about your success. My professors have interesting course material that they teach and also have excellent undergraduate research opportunities. I love being a chemical engineer. The professors teach in a manor that makes our degree applicable to a wide range of careers.

Athletics: Athletics at Clemson are very popular. School spirit can be seen all over as Clemson is a college town. Football Saturdays are huge. Baseball, basketball and soccer are also well supported.

Transportation: Transportation at Clemson University is very convenient. There is an online bus schedule so you can find out what buses go where and when. Also there is a shuttle that will take you anywhere you need to go on campus after 6 pm.

Majors: Chemical Engineering Review – I am an upcoming sophomore and I haven't even declared my actual major yet. Even though I am struggling with its difficulty already, I plan to stick with it.

Overall Experience: Great Experience – My experience thus far has been outstanding. I would never go any where else. It is like a huge family here in Clemson and everyone is very supportive of one another and their futures.

3 College Freshman

Majors: Nursing Blues – The nursing school. Is terrific, but they only select a small number a year when they can hold many more. If you come to Clemson hoping to get into nursing, you need to take many pre req classes and do very well! You only get two chances to apply into nursing before you have to change schools or change majors.

4 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: Southern Gentlemen – You'll find many sweet, southern gentlemen on campus. They mainly all drive nice trucks and dress nicely. Also, they are all very smart!

5 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: Love It! I've grown up a Clemson girl with my whole family and extended family graduating. My older brother is at Clemson with me and my expectations have definitely been met! Love the students, professors, and atmosphere Clemson has and wouldn't trade it for anything!

3 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: No Shortage of Upperclassmen Dorms – I am now in the process of filling out my housing application. There is no shortage of upperclassmen on-campus housing. There are multiple different upperclassmen on-campus apartments but they are just the old dorms turned into apartments so they aren't super nice and new.

4 College Sophomore

Athletics: Like any college - sports can differ year to year. However, the atmosphere on campus will never change. Us tigers love Clemson football and love to tailgate. Football is definitely the biggest sport but baseball and basketball closely follow. We all love the athletes and love the games.

3 College Sophomore

Parking: I've never been late to class, unfortunately I have to leave early to make sure I get a descent spot. There is not shortage of parking places, however, most of the available ones are in the PIt which is a pretty far walk. With 8 AM classes it is not a problem to find a sport but between 9 and 2 it can get difficult.

4 College Sophomore

Weather: In the spring, summer and fall there is no shortage of days you can head out to the lake. Of course there are the rainy days but it never fails to have multiple beautiful weekends to head out, enjoy the football game, and then tailgate on the lake after! The winters can be rough but the worst part is during Christmas break when students aren't around.

4 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: Health & Safety – The campus crime is not bad. The police are always near if I need them. I feel very safe on campus.

5 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: There are a lot of selections to choose from when going to eat off-campus. I enjoy the variety of choices that I can make if I want to eat off-campus.

Clemson offers an amazing college experience. Students return for the rest of their lives to see how the campus has changed and to support the Tigers. Although it is located in a small town, the school is big enough that there is never a dull moment, and the location only makes the student body closer to one another. As anyone who has been to Clemson knows, the students' blood here is orange, and the Clemson spirit is contagious for almost anyone who attends.
