Local Atmosphere: Everyone at Clemson is a big family. It is really easy to find others with similar interest as yourself and there is always someone there to help you if you need it. I personally love the atmosphere at Clemson University.

3 College Junior

Health & Safety: Health & Safety – I feel safe at Clemson University.
Although some of the housing is in the woods so I do suggest walking alone at night.

4 College Sophomore

Overall Experience: The Games – The football games at Clemson University made the beginning of my freshman year at college unforgettable. The atmosphere on campus on a game day is simply indescribable. There are thousands of tailgates and tons of fun things going on before the games. The feeling inside the stadium when our team scores is the most unforgettable thing though. The crowd goes crazy and starts screaming out our Clemson tigers chants.

Local Atmosphere: The Campus – The Clemson campus is awesome because it is small enough to walk to everywhere but it is still large enough to give a student the feeling of being at a major university. The campus has its own downtown area with tons of places to eat and shop or just hangout with friends. There are also many areas to hangout and play sports like Bowman field.

5 College Junior

Athletics: If you like football, you will love Clemson. There is a reason that BleacherReport.com ranked Clemson the best Football Stadium in the nation. GO Tigers!

5 College Junior

Academics: Clemson has continued to improve its academic standard every year. Class sizes are smaller than most schools ranked in the top 25 public schools, and the personal attention students get is unmatched.

4 College Senior

Local Atmosphere: Fun and Orange – Clemson's atmosphere is warm and welcoming. Clemson, has plenty of local events such as concerts, inter mural sports, and other activities. There are tons of ways to get involved and meet people.

Health & Safety: Safe and Secure – Clemson has a very low crime rate as a city, but the college manages to step up the safety even more. The campus police are very helpful and will be sure to drive a student leaving the library late to their car. Always looking to help, the campus also has emergency stations all over the campus.

3 College Junior

Diversity: Sea of Sameness – There does not seem to be much diversity; I feel as though the people are primarily conservative.

Weather: Very Hot & Humid – During the summer, if you're here for class or research, it's miserable unless you're used to it. If you walk anywhere, by the time you get there you're exhausted and dripping sweat. During the winter and spring it's nice and sunny and reasonably warm, so being outdoors is much more enjoyable.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: Average Variety, Decent Quality – Downtown has two pizza places, three sandwich shops, and two mexican restaurants within easy walking distance. There are some random japanese fast food places and fried chicken fast food places and a fro-yo place for dessert. If you want good variety and ethnic cuisine, you're not gonna find it here. If you like fast, boring grab-and-go food, then the food places around Clemson are perfect. They're fine for grabbing a quick lunch on the go, but if you want to go out to a nice, diverse, cultured restaurant for dinner, you're not going to find any.

3 College Freshman

Drug Safety: Drinking Is More Popular – The drug scene at Clemson is not really big, although it depends on who you hang out with.

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Different Options – There's a decent amount of options at Clemson. None of the dorms are brand new and fantastic, but it's tough to find anywhere that will have that. There are dorms that are suite style, and others that are communal bath. There are some available to one sex, but most are coed. They're located at different points of campus to suit your preference.

3 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: Not Too Much Nearby – The town of Clemson is pretty small, but the basic needs for college students are there- a mellow mushroom, a wings restaurant, clothing stores, and ice cream. There are shuttles that take you to Anderson and Greenville for free if you want access to more.

5 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: Great Assortment of Restaurants – In Clemson, HWY 93/123 has plenty of fast-food restaurants like Mickey D's and Chick-Fil-A. However, as you go toward Anderson, the selection is better and is filled with buffet-style restaurants like Golden Corral and Ryan's. There's also Olive Garden, Panera Bread, Texas Roadhouse, Jack in the Box...the list goes on and on.

4 College Junior

Local Atmosphere: There's Enough to Do – Clemson is satisfactory when it comes to having something to do. There are plenty of restaurants at which you can eat. Since it's a college town, there's at least one store that fits whatever you might need. If not, Greenville is about 40-50 miles away, Anderson is about 20 miles away- both cities are in SC and have more of a city feel- and if you really want to shop, Commerce, GA has an outlet and it's less than 100 miles away. Overall, I think anyone would love Clemson for its recreation (there are two parks nearby plus the Fike Recreational Center), there's always a party somewhere, and there are plenty of places to hang out downtown.

3 College Senior

Off-Campus Dining: Off campus dining is affordable with many options. The only problem with off campus dining is the difficulty in finding vegetarian and organic options.

4 College Junior

Overall Experience: I Love My School! Once you're a part of the Clemson family, it's impossible to not love it. The majority of students are fit, happy, and beautiful! Everyone has lots of school spirit and football games in Death Valley are the best. The campus is full of rich history, and walking across campus to class reminds me why I chose it. You definitely have to study to do well in classes, but it usually doesn't interfere with your social life. Go tigers!

Weather: The Perfect Balance – Clemson is HOT from March-September. I think having the lake nearby cools campus off in the winter.

3 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: Not a Lot of Healthy Options – Every kind of fast food imaginable in Clemson. Lots of good tex-mex and fast japanese. Quality grocery stores and the abundance of restaurants make it easy to find something to eat if the dining hall food isn't cutting it. Lots of fried southern food.

4 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: Something for Everyone – Huge variety of options, most are far away from campus, but practically everyone is off campus so you are still a part of the Clemson community despite being a few miles off campus. Nearly impossible to find places close to Downtown, and the quality isn't as good but the location convenience is something to go after senior or junior year.

3 College Junior

Campus Housing: Only for Freshman and Sophomores – The freshmen dorms are pretty standard. Off campus options for upperclassmen are about the same price as living on campus with many more amenities. Sophomores: unless you are living in sorority/fraternity housing or you enter the housing lottery and get Stadium Suites, moving off campus is recommended.

3 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: Lots of Options – Sometimes it feels like they are price gouging you, but it is possible to negotiate and there are some great places to live close to campus (some on the water!)

4 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: There are lots of dining options off campus for you to enjoy for very reasonable prices. From Waffle House, to the fine dining atmosphere of Pixie and Bill's and Calhoun Corners, there is something for every palette and budget. However, if your budget is limited, it might feel that you eat at the same places much of the time. Luckily, there is a weekly farmers market where you can buy fresh food and cook on your own. But honestly, with all the options you have (pot belly deli being my personal favorite,) the possibilities are endless.

3 College Freshman

Drug Safety: I haven't attended Clemson yet, but from what I've heard it is there if you look for it.

Clemson offers an amazing college experience. Students return for the rest of their lives to see how the campus has changed and to support the Tigers. Although it is located in a small town, the school is big enough that there is never a dull moment, and the location only makes the student body closer to one another. As anyone who has been to Clemson knows, the students' blood here is orange, and the Clemson spirit is contagious for almost anyone who attends.
