4 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: I'm a female who walks alone and runs across campus, I must add, at reasonable times, and I've never felt unsafe on campus.

Nightlife: There is never an issue with finding something to do at Clemson University for those that are of age. Transportation is not needed for the downtown area, it's manageable to walk everywhere.

Weather: It isn't really downcast that often. I've never really had to walk through heavy rain to get to classes. It's warm during fall and cold during winter. Not much else to say.

Diversity: There aren't many challenges in regards to being a minority on campus. Racial minorities usually stick out like a sore thumb, considering how "white" the college is. All the racial minorities together might make up 30-40% of the people in the community. There are lots of support groups/clubs/etc. if you're a minority. The school really drills acceptance for all minorities here at campus, including a 2 hour congression, for lack of a better word, in which you discuss a specific social injustice topic, usually about racism or sexism or something of that ilk, with a small-ish group of random students around campus who also picked the same topic.

Campus Housing: The dorms range from a few hotel-like buildings to slabs of concrete with rooms in between, and I got the butt end of the deal. The janitors are great, and try their hardest, but the other dorm members make their jobs really hard. As in pizza boxes and a couple beer cans in the halls every now and then, assorted sauces "spilled" in a few places, and the worst bathroom etiquette I've ever seen. Outside of that, though, the dorm is ok. It's close to most of my classes (like a 10 minute walk at most). Most people just mind their own business, but it is an "open door society", in which some/most people are comfortable with just leaving their doors open to the others on the hall (while they're in it of course).

Off-Campus Housing: I don't live there but many of my friends enjoy living off campus.

Majors: There is a lot of different degrees, some are specialized and some a little broader in nature. It's pretty diverse and plenty to choose from.

Facilities: There are plenty of open areas for the great days in the fall and spring time to be outside and have fun. The gyms and pool are great.

Facilities: The fact that there is a lake pretty much on campus is a great for me, not to mention the mountains in the fall with the leaves changing is great too. It's a great college atmosphere and doesn't get lost in a city setting.

Local Atmosphere: Great college town. Even though it's a small town you don't have to travel far to do anything. The mountains, lake and a medium size city are within a 30 min drive.

Campus Housing: On campus housing is continually getting better. Although the buildings are a little old they seem to updating them a little at a time. Extremely close to classes which is a plus and the student center has everything you would need.

Clemson offers an amazing college experience. Students return for the rest of their lives to see how the campus has changed and to support the Tigers. Although it is located in a small town, the school is big enough that there is never a dull moment, and the location only makes the student body closer to one another. As anyone who has been to Clemson knows, the students' blood here is orange, and the Clemson spirit is contagious for almost anyone who attends.
