Campus is a very secure place for several reasons. A campus security guard drives the entire campus every evening until at least 2 am to monitor any possible suspicious activity. All buildings and facilities have alarms, and male R.A.s from Kelly Hall are always willing to walk single females to their dorm room when asked. The college takes every precaution possible to make sure that campus is safe and secure.
Another reassuring fact is that crime is very low in the Appalachian region. Most of the possible danger on campus comes from wildlife. One semester, two bears made their way on campus, but they did nothing harmful except eat the trash. It would be difficult to walk away with someone else's property on this campus. One student had a friend leave a $20 at the computer lab, then came back the next day and no one had taken it.
