Campus Strictness: Administration is understanding, but will still enforce rules that matter and affect others, especially if safety is involved.

Campus Strictness: I liked that there were never any restrictions on who you can bring into the dorms- you just had to do the common courtesy of okaying it with your roommate. Campus safety officers are from the Worcester police department, so they can be pretty intense if they show up to house parties, but they do what they have to do to keep us safe.

Campus Strictness: Clark is pretty lenient about most things, but mostly because people are smart about not doing things in front of police that are illegal and the police don't seek out problems where it isn't evident.

Campus Strictness: If you are caught with illegal stuff you would get in trouble. Also there are police around to enforce the law and make sure everyone is safe.

4 Recent Alumnus

Campus Strictness: Administration is involved in student life but not negatively.

As a general rule, you could party all you wanted on campus and not get in trouble, so long as you kept the noise down. RAs and the police don’t walk around with their ears to the doors waiting for students to make a mistake. In fact, it’s clear that they don’t want students to feel restricted or forced to sneak around—they just want to prevent them from hurting themselves or others. If you put yourself in one of those situations, then you can expect to get busted. If not, then you may even be able to get away with just a stern, get-back-in-your-room-with-that look from an authority figure.

Campus police at Clark like to keep a low profile. They patrol the campus on foot and by car, but they have more important matters to attend to than writing up students for partying. That’s why that job is left to the RAs on campus. Off campus, however, you can expect to see your favorite police officer show up right around midnight to break up whatever party you are at. They’ve got it down to a science now—they walk quietly in the door, and the students quietly walk out the back. Don’t make eye contact or attempt to converse with them because they are still real Worcester cops, and they can arrest you. Remember, if you want to have a battle of attitudes with the Clark PD, they will always win.
