Health & Safety: Safe If You Use Common Sense! Clark University is in the middle of a city. Just like in any city, you can stay safe as long as you're smart: Keep your apartment door locked, don't walk alone at night and utilize the FREE on-campus van service. If you follow these simple guidelines there is no reason to be worried about safety.

Scholarships: I come from a very low income family and getting financial aid was no problem. Clark is very generous with giving out aid or helping you seek it through other methods. The Student Accounts office is also very on top on the paper work and making sure they don't lose anything. Copies, copies, copies. Clark also has a method where you make small payments over a year. It really helps for those who are paying for school on their own.

Overall Experience: Breakast at the Professors – Clark University is an absolutely amazing school. Everyone is so friendly and always smiling. You can have a conversation with just about anyone you bump into. There are also numerous events that go on daily throughout campus. One is never without anything to do. My favorite part of Clark has to be the professors. At the end of the semester, one of my professors invited the class over her house down the street and made us all breakfast. We talked about her class for hours and it was just an enjoyable experience. Not many professors would do that for their students.

Health & Safety: Escort Service – Safety at Clark University is a paramount concern. Recently created was the escort service. Basically from 4pm-4am Mon-Sun, escort service runs. The word "escort" is not what you think but rather it is a term the describes students getting driven around. In clark-owned vans, as a workstudy job, students drive students to local venues up to a mile radius around campus rather than having them walk. But if the student so wished to walk Clark also provides walking escorts that will walk with you wherever you want if you feel unsafe alone.

Scholarships: Expensive but Promising – I applied to 5 different schools and Clark gave me the most money. Their financial aid system is a little backward in my opinion, atleast compared to my undergraduate school. Like every financial aid office if you are persistent and friendly you are going to get alot more help.

Off-Campus Housing: Don't Be Afraid to Extend Your Search to the Larger Worcester Area – Housing was hard to find. The area right around Clark is not best location but if you aren't in the best location. I live about a mile from the school and found a much better deal. Its a little more expensive but peace of mind goes along way.

Local Atmosphere: Everything Else Is Great! The town of Worcester is not the most desirable location. Clark is trying really hard to improve the immediate area around the campus. Personally, the best thing about Worcester is you are close to everything else you might possibly like, for example Boston

Guys & Girls: There are a lot of interesting and free spirited people at Clark. There aren't many cliques, you just hang out with whoever you want.

Computers: The Computers at Clark are ample if you know where to go. There's plenty of options for the small school. The only time it really get backed up is during midterms and finals. The WiFi is pretty good, and the printing allowance is more than enough.

Local Atmosphere: main south is a poor neighborhood, but there are always activities on campus, and a huge Clark presence in the community.
Great food! vietnamese, salvadorian
Blackstone shopping center, malls by bus, etc.
There are consistent FREE busses to the mall/ to boston on the weekends.
Lots of outdoor adventures sponsored by clubs.

Majors: The Best Place for Me – Being a History major with a concentration in Holocaust and Genocide studies at Clark has been an unbelievable experience. The faculty members are at the top of their field and are extremely passionate about what they study. Clark has access to some of the largest recorded archives of survivors from the Holocaust. Having access to this is a great learning experience.

Health & Safety: Urban Area Awareness – As Clark is located in an urban area there are crimes that occur around campus. The campus police officers are very good at keeping students alert about events that have occurred on campus through "timely warning" emails and texts. Its smart not to walk alone at night and lock doors. While I have never felt unsafe at Clark its smart to be aware and stay alert of whats going on around you.

Academics: Clark is a small school and because of this the professors are really able to get to know their students on a first name basis. They genuinely make an effort to help students both inside and outside of the classroom. Many are very inspiring and make classes extremely worthwhile. The small classes allow students to never feel like a number in a classroom.

Local Atmosphere: Main South Life – Clark University is located in an area of Worcester known as Main South. While its a little rough around the edges, this area offers a lot to do during the day and at night. During the day there are many festivals on weekends in the fall along with different sorts of cultural parades. There are a few nice parks in the area. As for the nightlife there are a lot of clubs, restaurants, and bars nearby. This is a very lively area of Worcester.

Academics: Ts a Brand-New Major but There Are Still Plenty of Great Classes to Take. Its a brand-new major but there are still plenty of great classes to take.

Local Atmosphere: It Gets a Bad Rap, but I Find Lots of Things to Do. It gets a bad rap, but the neighborhood isn't that bad. I love to go to some of the stores close by, especially on Park ave. If you have a car it's a big help, then you can get downtown or to some of the shopping centers outside of town. Once a year they close down Park ave and host a huge art festival, that's great. I also love going to shows at the Hanover Theatre.

Nightlife: Parties are kind of lame. AT the beginning of freshman year it was fun looking for parties. But parties get boring or broken up by police.

4 College Sophomore

Computers: Computer Labs – Computer labs are very accessible and helpful. The computers are pretty new and work well for the most part. There are many printers as well.

4 College Senior

Off-Campus Housing: Housing on and Off – The housing ranges from relatively nice to really nice. If you stay on campus, you can't go wrong. Many upperclassmen venture off-campus, where you can find a great array of cheap but not-so-nice housing.

3 College Senior

Local Atmosphere: Main South in the WOO – Main South in Worcester has its quirks. Although Worcester is incredible for college students, with bars, clubs, and many diverse restaurants, Main South is a particular part of Worcester that is more dangerous and less desirable than the rest of the city.

4 College Senior

Academics: I came to Clark University because its Psychology program is quite prestigious. Overall, I have found all my professors to be extremely available and engaging, but the academics in general could be more challenging.

4 Recent Alumnus

Scholarships: Very Accessible – It was easy to establish good communication with the financial aid office and I received a good amount of aid.

3 Recent Alumnus

Campus Housing: Houses Were Better Than Dorms – Dorms were okay but I am just the type that preferred housing like the quiet house or housing available on main st.

The students say it best: Clark is a great place to spend four important—perhaps the most important—years of your life. Those who go to Clark report being glad they went. They say that they learned what they wanted to learn in their major, had a lot of fun, and grew up in the process. No campus is perfect, but despite Clark’s flaws, students still manage to fall in love with it and pursue their degrees until the end. Clark’s strengths lie in its academics, its community, and the city in which it resides. Even though that same city gives rise to some of Clark’s largest problems, it also exemplifies the diversity that Clark strives to provide for its students on campus. The city’s restaurants also provide a welcome escape from Clark’s dreadful meal plan!

Although Clark suffers from a poor social scene, low enthusiasm for organized sports, New England weather, and the double-edged sword of apathy and tolerance, Clarkies leave the school realizing that they have just lived through an incredible academic and social experience. It is an experience that stays with them throughout their lives via Clark’s professional reputation, as well as the bonds formed with professors and fellow Clarkies. Students agree: By the time graduation day rolls around, you will be equipped to face the world as an educated adult, but you will wish you had just a little more time at Clark.
