Facts & Statistics

Tips for Getting In
Choose a unique leader for the essay.
Things I Wish I Knew Before Coming To School
  • EVERYONE here is extremely smart, well read and well informed, ambitious and high-achieving.
  • How easy it is to get the school to fund student activities.
  • That there is a rather thriving hookup culture.
  • The academics are very challenging and demanding.
  • The attire is very laid-back; dressing well is not a priority for students here.
Interviews & Information Sessions
Interviews are done by appointment only and are an important admissions factor. Appointments can be made Monday through Friday for 9 a.m., 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 1:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m., and 3:30 p.m. Limited Saturday appointments are available. Interviews for high school seniors and transfer students are only offered between early summer and mid-December. Information sessions are conducted at 9 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. on weekdays. Call (909) 621-8088 to schedule an interview or information session.
Campus Tours
Tours are given throughout the school year on weekdays at 10 a.m., 11 a.m., 2:30 p.m., and 3:30 p.m. Saturday tours are given September to December and in April and May at 10 a.m. Summer tours are given at 10 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. on weekdays. Appointments are recommended, but not required. Call (909) 621-8088 to schedule a tour.
Overnight Visits
Overnight visits are a great way to see if CMC is a good fit for you. Student hosts are eager to show prospective students their love of CMC and what a typical day (and night) looks like. Overnights can help clarify the differences between seemingly similar schools in the Consortium. Visits can be scheduled at almost any time when school is in session, except fall break, Thanksgiving, spring break, and finals weeks. Overnight visits must be scheduled two weeks in advance, so call ahead to check availability and make an appointment. The phone number is (909) 621-8088. CMC also runs several on-campus admissions day events in the fall (September and October), and overnight visits can be scheduled in conjunction with these days for students coming from a distance. Check the Web site (www.claremontmckenna.edu/prospectives) for exact dates.
Did You Know?
Interviews are a great way for the admissions office to see if you mesh well with CMC-and at a school this size, the fit is really important!
