3 College Senior

Majors: I have not done any yet with the school.

3 College Senior

Greek Life: The greek life on campus creates more activities for us non-greeks.

3 College Senior

Campus Dining: Wednesday's are the days when everyone comes to the cafe.

3 College Senior

Campus Housing: The housing on campus is not a far walk to and from classes, which is always good when you are not a morning person like me.

3 College Senior

Off-Campus Dining: I believe there should be more restaurants versus fast food places. That's how I gained so much weight freshmen year.

5 College Junior

Overall Experience: My overall experience is wonderful. The schools tries to build visionary leadership in its students and that is what I plan to do in my future career as a music educator.

4 College Junior

Campus Strictness: campus police are cool, they're big on enforcing the rules. they send out emails regarding suspicious behavior when it happens (which is rare cause the campus is safe)

5 College Junior

Greek Life: I wouldn't know, i'm not big on Greek life

3 College Junior

Athletics: have a great volleyball team, baseball team, track team and basketball team.

3 College Junior

Campus Dining: the food is decent. have a nice variety

5 College Junior

Academics: the music department is my family, we work hard, play hard, and study hard.

5 College Junior

Academics: classes are difficult at times and become time consuming if you don't use time management. In summary, its as hard as you make it

3 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: orangeburg has a good bit of choices in food near the schools. some places are 24 hours

3 College Junior

Scholarships: the financial aid is slow sometimes, but they are very helpful. they work with you so that you will have no worries when the semester starts

5 College Junior

Majors: i am happy with my major in music education. the music department has the best faculty and the music program is accredited.

5 College Junior

Majors: get accepted into the university and go through an audition

4 College Junior

Local Atmosphere: Orangeburg has a number of places to visit, you'd just have to find them.

3 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: I have always stayed on campus so I wouldn't know

4 College Junior

Scholarships: There's a series of paper work to fill out to see if you actually need financial aid but that seems normal. The Financial Aid department is really helpful.

Academics: I am a Digital Design major looking to go into animation. The art department as a whole as grown a lot in just one year but there's still room for improvement. It would be cool if the department offered various concentrations for the art programs offered. The work load is good for being an art major. Working on projects outside of class is ideal if you want to finish your projects on time. The facilities need an update visually to be more visually aesthetic for a creative atmosphere. There is a need for art related internship and job opportunities.

3 College Junior

Academics: Professors are okay... Many are actually helpful. Curriculum and workload could be heavier. Popular study areas are Mass Communications, Science based majors and Education.

2 College Junior

Parking: With the addition on a new dorm, on campus parking is even more limited than before.

3 College Junior

Transportation: There are a few campus vehicles like vans that are used for going to local stores like Walmart or community service. There is a public transportation but I've never experienced it.

College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: I'm not sure about off campus housing because I live on campus. I haven't inquired about off campus housing.

3 College Junior

Local Atmosphere: I don't go out that much. I am on the gospel choir. We are all the time going to different churches in the community. The chuch folk are nice and welcomes us when we get there. I love the choir life!!

Claflin University sets itself apart by being a small, family-oriented campus—and you will notice this from the moment you first arrive here. Everyone, from the administrators to the maintenance staff, is always warm, welcoming, friendly, and ready to assist the students. It is very hard to make enemies at this school because everyone respects everyone else and where they came from. The students and faculty come from different backgrounds, yet that does not lead to segregation.

The people here possess genuine Southern hospitality, a trait that never gets old around campus, and everyone takes pride in the rich history they have become a part of at Claflin. Everyone is always focused on their academic success and achieving the desired “Claflin Confidence.” The school constantly makes a personal effort to help students achieve all their goals by helping in whatever way they can. When you graduate from Claflin, you will not only leave with your diploma, but you will also leave with a wealth of great friendships and family bonds that you have made with others at the University. It truly is a rewarding experience.
