Nightlife: there's always something going on during the weekend. You really just need to know the right people.

Campus Strictness: I wish they were more leanient on some of the stuff we can't do on campus.

Academics: I mean I am pretty good at what I am majoring in, the school just needs more sports facillities.

Drug Safety: It's really the students choice because there's really no peer pressure at the school.

3 College Junior

Majors: they really need more majors just because I had to change my major when I transferred there.

3 College Junior

Majors: they have a good veriety of internships in the system. some that are not even a major over at Claflin.

3 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: cookout stays open almost 24 hours everyday and mcdonalds do to and there just a block away.

3 College Junior

Transportation: they have a van that takes students to walmart or to some of the dorms off campus.

4 College Junior

Weather: it's warm weather for most of the year in orangeburg and I love warm weather.

4 College Junior

Greek Life: all the greek fraternities and sororities be all over campus.

3 College Junior

Health & Safety: they're out there at all times of the day except for sundaty.

2 College Junior

Computers: the computers are slow the wifi is off and on and the library be packed because of it.

4 College Junior

Diversity: You have all ethnics and people withh different outlooks on stuff all at one campus.

2 College Sophomore

Transportation: Getting back and forth is very stressful without a car. However, you can take the Greyhound or a plane (but the closest airport is 45min away).

3 College Sophomore

Nightlife: I don't go out so I can't say.

4 College Sophomore

Drug Safety: Our school is very strict about drugs, so most students who use them and get caught are kicked out.

4 College Sophomore

Computers: I will say that in the past year, the internet has gotten a lot faster at Claflin.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: If you have a car, off campus housing can be a joy.

3 College Sophomore

Health & Safety: Our health department is excellent. The only setback is the long wait you have, so if you have a class, you might be late.

The safety department needs an upgrade. We will be signing a petition for better security next week.

3 College Sophomore

Academics: The school is making improvements, but you really have to be on them if you aren't a STEM student.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: For me, the strictness (with the exception of room check) is not too bothersome. I would rather be safe than sorry.

2 College Sophomore

Local Atmosphere: Coming from a big city where I could travel, I feel trapped here. Without a car, there's nothing to do.

3 College Sophomore

Athletics: We have new coaches so the teams are on the up and coming.

3 College Sophomore

Weather: The weather here is flip floppy. You will need an umbrella and your sunglasses all in one day.

3 College Freshman

Transportation: Freshmen should be able to drive on campus because I don't like walking.

Claflin University sets itself apart by being a small, family-oriented campus—and you will notice this from the moment you first arrive here. Everyone, from the administrators to the maintenance staff, is always warm, welcoming, friendly, and ready to assist the students. It is very hard to make enemies at this school because everyone respects everyone else and where they came from. The students and faculty come from different backgrounds, yet that does not lead to segregation.

The people here possess genuine Southern hospitality, a trait that never gets old around campus, and everyone takes pride in the rich history they have become a part of at Claflin. Everyone is always focused on their academic success and achieving the desired “Claflin Confidence.” The school constantly makes a personal effort to help students achieve all their goals by helping in whatever way they can. When you graduate from Claflin, you will not only leave with your diploma, but you will also leave with a wealth of great friendships and family bonds that you have made with others at the University. It truly is a rewarding experience.
