Online Courses: I've had one hybrid course at Truman and the professor was very good. It was an anatomy and physiology class so there was plenty of materials to access and to study.

Tuition & Financial Aid: Since I have a previous Bachelor's degree, most of my financial aid money was already gone when I got here. But, I needed to get the last little bit to help me pay for last semester. The financial aid guy was awesome at figuring out how much I had left borrow and getting me set up for that. Unfortunately, to receive the remainder of my loan after tuition was paid, I had to wait a couple of months to get it. The reason for this, I was told is that sometimes young people have signed up for classes and got the full financial aid package, and took the money and ran, never showed up for classes. So to avoid this you have to attend class a certain portion of the semester before you can get the money, and they break it into two installments. (Always a few bad apples ruining it for the rest of us!)

Student Body: This campus = Major Diversity!! The three greatest areas of diversity at Truman are ethnic/ racial; religious; and sexual. I think our community is very accepting, but I'm a middle-aged, semi-liberal, white woman... my point of view may be skewed... : )

Career Services: What I've seen from Career Services seems good, but nothing to write home about. They didn't help me find a job. Very few of the listings they had for jobs were in my field.

Overall Experience: The quality of courses and professors is terrific. I brag about my professors all the time. If there's a weakness it is in the variety of courses offered. For instance, if I want to learn Mandarin, I have to go to another campus. The arts courses are minimal at Truman, but again, another City College has more arts classes or more theater. This is however, the way the organization is reorganizing. Consolidating all classes of a particular type together under one roof. This should supposedly be more cost effective- we shall see!

Overall Experience: I have heard from many current health care workers that Truman College is a really good school both for nursing and the CNA training. And a fact that Truman College students have a nearly perfect record for passing the NCLEx... the nursing exam.

Campus Resources: Admittedly, I haven't checked out the newly renovated athletic center yet... but, all the other resources are at least OK! The building is a little old and needs something to brighten it up... the elevators are crap... often one is broken. The library and computer labs are probably my favorite amenities, oh yeah, and the Veterans' Center- these are all quite good. The cafeteria (thank God!!) is being renovated this summer and will be under new management in the fall... I am hoping for the best.

Academic Experience: Disclaimer... I have just been accepted into the nursing program. I have had little to no problems with my professors and the administration in dealing with my pre-reqs, etc. It has, however, been kind of a pain in the butt to deal with the nursing office. All I can say is, I hope it is better once I am in the midst of it.

Academic Experience: I have heard students from other City Colleges (I think there are six...?), and a few who go to Truman and had taken a class or two at another campus... say that Truman is the best. I understand that the nursing program at Truman is more highly considered than the other nursing campuses (from the mouths of health care professionals). Personally, I agree. Nothing touched by humans is perfect, but the professors, the curriculum, the administration, support services, etc are all pretty amazing. The only part of Truman I would give a less than average grade... elevators and cafeteria!!

Academic Flexibility: The City Colleges are essentially community colleges... the talent that I have seen in the professors far exceeds what one might expect for the price tag. The professors are also, in my experience pretty tough, but fair. I have seen them give breaks to unprepared students (one in particular comes to mind), allowing them to take a quiz during the next class period.
