5 College Sophomore

Diversity: Even though it is a Catholic university. The background of each student is diverse

Health & Safety: We have onsite police dept...it is very safe there.

2 College Sophomore

Nightlife: At our school we personally don't throw many parties but because we are a Memphis school there is a lot to do around the city plus we are very close to at least three other large schools who always invite us to there events.

3 College Sophomore

Campus Strictness: They are pretty nice about guests when told ahead of time however parking sucks and sometimes the number of people in a room is an issue for them.

3 College Sophomore

Athletics: We don't have a football team so that's a minus and a lot of our students are commuters and don't always come back to campus for games so sometimes the games are dull.

1 College Sophomore

Campus Dining: The food is pretty bland in the cafe and usually the same things but their fried chicken and mashed potatoes are amazing. The Buc Grille has really good food though.

5 College Junior

Academics: I"m in a very specialized program, and professors are great.

3 College Junior

Scholarships: The process as not adequately explained, but it was still doable.

Parking: Being a small campus, all parking is close to the dorms and classes. Very rarely do I have issues finding somewhere to park, and I always feel safe in the parking lot.

4 College Freshman

Scholarships: Getting scholarships was pretty easy for me. I would say that about 3/4 of my tuition is covered by my scholarships. My admissions counselor was very helpful because she informed me about some scholarship opportunities that I would have missed otherwise.

4 College Freshman

Academics: The professors really care about their students. They are always willing to meet with you during office hours or after class. Some classes have small workloads and some have heavy workloads, it all depends on the professor and the subject.

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: All dorms are co-ed but the suites within the dorms are either all girls or all boys. There are no dorms on campus that have community bathrooms. All dorms are in a pretty good location in relation to class buildings and the cafeteria except for Stritch. Stritch is the furthest, smallest, and cheapest dorm.

4 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: There is no curfew but if you are just wondering around campus after midnight security will question you.

5 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: There is a lot to do since Christian Brothers is located in the heart of Memphis. We get together with students from Rhodes and Memphis and have a great time downtown or by the Mississippi River.

4 College Freshman

Computers: The IT lab (the computer lab) has several computers and usually always has a spot open for me to use. WiFi around campus is good, and for the most part very fast. You could survive without having your own personal laptop.

3 College Freshman

Campus Dining: The cafe isn't so bad, but when you are eating there 2-3 times a day, you get a little tired of it. There are a lot of other places to snack on campus as well, which is good for variety. I probably will move into a an apartment on campus next year and cook some, so I won't need such a huge meal plan as I needed this year.

3 College Freshman

Athletics: Varsity sports at CBU are pretty good. It gives the students a place to hang out and something to do on campus. Often times, it is the center of our social events. There's nothing I love better than going and watching my best friends play soccer, baseball, and basketball and then going to grab a bite to eat with them.

2 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: The on campus housing although more expensive is much better.

1 College Freshman

Greek Life: The sororities and fraternities have parties and events that are exclusive for the most part.

Academics: I am a Art Major with a concentration in Graphic Design and I love it. So far I have only completed 1 art course and 1 Graphic Design course but I am very confident. Being an art major, you will need alot of feed back from your professors about your work and my professors are good with that. They complement me on my work but they also tell me things to help me better my work. If you are stuck in a "artist block" they try to talk you through it and inspire you to think. Art is heavy workload alone, so sometimes it is a challenge when I have a paper due around the same time as an art project.

I have heard from my professors that every year there are Art and Graphic Design internships available to seniors and sometimes juniors and I'm excited about that.

The Mac lab that we use for my Graphic Design courses are amazing. The Macs come equipped with Photoshop and Illustrator so don't worry about purchasing it.

However I wish they would redo the studios in the basement. They are very bland and it can be hot down there because of the poor air conditioning. There is a rumor going around that they are going to redo that whole building next year or the year after next. I hope they do it before I graduate.

College Freshman

Computers: I don't go to the main computer labs because I have my own laptop.

I have my own printer also. But having your own computer and printer is not a necessity. (unless you are lazy and you don't want to walk to the computer lab to do a paper at the middle of the night... like me lol)

I am a Graphic Design student, so I have to use the Mac lab, which is only for Graphic Design students. That lab is pretty nice; All Mac computers, a printer and a scanner. It's never crowded. If my computer happens to crash I will use that lab.

4 College Freshman

Diversity: There's a great mix of people at Christian Brothers. Even down to the organizations and classrooms there is good diversity.

Weather: Memphis weather is very flip flop sometimes. One day it's warm and sunny. Next day it's cold and rainy. Since the campus is small there isn't much of a hassle getting to class in the rain. There arch covered walkways that lead to different buildings to protect you from the rain. But the walk from the dorm to those walkways you will have no protection.

4 College Freshman

Campus Dining: There are 3 different dining options on campus: Alfonzo dining hall, The Buccaneer Grill, and Canale Cafe.
Alfonzo is a cafeteria that is buffet style. There are different things served at different times of day and everyday. Fresh salad, deserts, different flavors of ice cream, pizza, and cheeseburgers, cereal are constantly available. And there are lots of different kinds of beverages. With your student ID, you can eat here an unlimited amount of times. You don't have to count your meals.
Buccaneer Grill, or most commonly nicknamed "The Buc," is alot like a fast food restaurant. It has a menu were you can order stuff like cheeseburgers, chicken sandwiches, fries and chicken nuggets. The Buc also has alot of different snacks and drinks, kinda like a convenience store. However, to pay for your food you have to use money or buc dollars. (You can get 50 or 100 buc dollars per semester depending on your plan) I have the 50 buc dollar plan and I haven't used up all my bucs from last semester.
I don't know much about the Canale Cafe because I only been there once. It has a Starbucks-y type vibe. They have different kinds of drinks and wraps. I ordered a smoothie and it was pretty good. I don't know if Canale takes buc dollars because I paid for my smoothie in cash.
