3 College Freshman

Facilities: the gym is good because it is eco friendly and using the machines actually creates energy.

2 College Freshman

Facilities: There is not much to do here. There is nowhere for students to hang out.

5 College Sophomore

Facilities: Great academic opportunities, most professors have experience in their fields, and the campus is absolutely gorgeous. All buildings are new or being remodeled and it's easy to forget that you study in a place that looks like a resort.

4 College Sophomore

Facilities: Beautiful campus, student pool next to the dorms, world class film school, and brand-new athletic center. The Dean and President truly know how to take care of the students.

4 College Junior

Facilities: The teachers really put in a lot of effort into classes. I feel like I am learning a lot of information every single day about different forms of design. They really care and want us to be successful.

Chapman boasts some of the most advanced facilities in the nation, most of which are reserved for film and science majors and athletes. Most film students are attracted to the Dodge College of Film and Media Arts because of its outstanding equipment, which is accessible 24/7. It provides everything imaginable for a student to create his or her own movie, and has sound stages, 36 individual editing suites, a foley stage, two audition rooms, and a hair and makeup studio. Folino Theater, a 500-seat venue, was created to showcase the final products. In addition, all students have access to Dodge's DVD and VHS library. While the film students practically live at Dodge, science majors spend most of their time at Hashinger Science Center, which features laboratories for crystallography, food science, genetics, physical therapy, nuclear science, and radiation.

Chapman also provides excellent facilities for its athletes. In 2008, the athletic center received a multi-million-dollar renovation that included the addition of the Zee Allred Aquatics Center, complete with an Olympic-sized pool. The Hutton Sports Center includes a 3,000-seat arena, a 5,000-seat outdoor stadium, four championship tennis courts, and a training and fitness facility. Although the academic and athletic facilities are some of the best in the nation, there is no student center or common place for students to relax. Between classes, students either go back to their dorm room or mingle in the Attallah Piazza, but since the piazza is outside, students run out of places to hang out as soon as it gets cooler. Jazzman's Café & Bakery is a popular alternative, but there is very limited seating there. In the classrooms, state-of-the-art facilities allow students to have a hands-on experience. But, Chapman still needs to work on creating a student-friendly area to socialize on campus.

"Green" Initiatives
Chapman is definitely trying to be more green. It recently eliminated trays in the cafeteria to reduce the amount of food wasted, and it places recycling bins at all large campus events. In the cafeteria, nearly 97 percent of Chapman's produce is locally grown.

The most popular green initiative at Chapman is Sustainability Week, hosted by the Office of Student & Campus Life. It promotes environmental sustainability in Orange County through interactive activities and events.
