2 College Freshman

Campus Dining: THE FOOD SUCKS. Most of the time it seems like the cafeteria just gets lazy and serves the same thing over and over. (Better get used to a lot of pasta). They try to be adventurous and make exotic foods which just fails.

2 College Freshman

Campus Dining: The dining hall reels you in by having amazing food the first few weeks of semester, just long enough for you to tell your parents how good it is. Then, the meals begin to become repetitive and bland. The hours are horrible, there are days that I can only get one meal in because of my schedule. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly though. You can tell that they're really committed to their job. They try to make the food as best as they can but I don't think they have a large enough budget. There's a rumor that they're building a new dining hall so that would help with the crowding and hopefully will bring new choices.

4 College Freshman

Campus Dining: I have to buy a meal plan, but its so worth it. Its decent food, that you can get a wide variety of. Also, you can eat as much as you want. It's nice.

3 College Freshman

Campus Dining: There's only two meal options available. An unlimited plan or a commuter student plan. The food isn't that bad and there is something for everyone! Most options can be made vegetarian or vegan upon request. The dining hall also has a Facebook page where you can request menu items for the next week.

4 College Student

Campus Dining: The dining hall is actually quite decent, and if you live on campus you pay a flat rate for unlimited card swipes. While they don't let you take food out (besides something you're still eating, like an ice cream cone), it's pretty easy to steal bagels, apples, etc. by wrapping them in napkins and stashing them in your bag. As for off-campus, the food around Burlington is great. There are some really good restaurants that are a little more expensive (good for when your parents visit), and tons of cheap options that are open late like KKD's. Even if you're not 21, head to Church st. on the weekend nights to take advantage of the food carts.

Champlain College's Dining Services is run by the Sodexo company. Each student living on campus is required to buy an unlimited meal plan, and students off campus have the option of buying a commuter plan with 40 meals per semester. There is only one dining hall at Champlain, and it is open from 7:15 a.m. to 7 p.m., unless otherwise noted. Meals are available in three-hour periods, and in between, the grill, sandwich, and salad bars are open. There is also always cereal, bagels, fruit, and other snacks. Students are not allowed to take food outside the café, though. The food prepared is usually really good, especially toward the beginning of each semester and during events on campus. Often Sodexo brings in local farms and food manufacturers for local dinner nights, the smoothie bar, and other specialties.

As part of Vermont's commitment to healthy, local, and organic foods, Sodexo's top priority is to cater to every dietary need—vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, kosher, and other allergies. To buy individual meals, the dining hall costs about $6 for breakfast to $9 for dinner. Each student with a meal plan receives two guest swipes on his or her card per semester. The Champlain Dining Hall also has a Facebook page, where it posts meals for the day, and students leave their comments and suggestions. The dining hall tries its best to cater to these suggestions.
