2 College Sophomore

Diversity: There is almost no diversity on our campus and a lot of the ethnic groups tend to stay together and form bonds.

3 College Junior

Off-Campus Dining: I can't rate this because I don't eat around here off campus as I live 30 miles away and commute.

Campus Strictness: I think that it is just as strict as it should be. Not too much but not too little.

4 College Junior

Computers: I can always find a computer to use and can print things for free.

4 College Junior

Majors: I like my major very much but do not really know much about the others.

3 College Junior

Majors: It is a little difficult and I think the professors could do a little better of a job teaching in lecture but overall I like it.

3 College Junior

Campus Housing: I don't live on campus so it is hard to rate this.

3 College Junior

Academics: Academics are good, but I do feel that the nursing academics could improve as far as making sure the students know exactly what information they should be focusing on for exams.

4 College Junior

Athletics: I don't know all that much about the athletics but I hear that it is good.

4 College Junior

Diversity: It is diverse, which is great, but I think it is just normal and average, not extraordinarily diverse.

Weather: It is normal Vermont weather, a tad undecided at times but overall alright.

3 College Junior

Local Atmosphere: There are not very many local attractions but the scenery is very nice.

College Sophomore

Greek Life: No Greek Life on campus.

5 College Sophomore

Athletics: Half of the student body participate in a varsity sport. The athletic facilities have all been redone and the quality of the programs has greatly improved over the last 5 years. Because the school is small there is significant school spirit.

4 College Sophomore

Campus Housing: Dorms are mostly all new buildings. The rooms are spacious and for the most part kept clean. All dorms are on campus and only a short walk to classes.

2 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: Even though I will be living off campus next year it is very expensive and most rental units are owned by the same person. It absolutely gouges the students.

3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: No discounts. The cost is average. There is one pizza place and a diner. Otherwise I have to drive to any conveniences such as Dunkin Donuts or sub shops.

4 College Sophomore

Nightlife: Students have to make their own fun as it is a small campus and the drinking age is 21. There are plenty of house parties though and everyone takes turns being the DD if we are driving.

5 College Sophomore

Scholarships: Student services is very helpful and lets me know if I need anything to keep current. Financial Aid is mostly dependent on the FAFSA process, and nothing can be done without applying for this program. My school does not have much aid based aid.

3 College Sophomore

Diversity: There is not much diversity on campus. It is very characteristic of Vermont, not Castleton State College.

4 College Sophomore

Computers: Castleton has the latest technology. Printing and programs are free for students. I prefer to have my own computer so I don't have to go to the computer labs and can work in my dorm room if I prefer.

4 College Sophomore

Academics: My major is very good. The department is small so it is easy to get to know my professors and establish a great working relationship with them. The workload is heavy but I am learning a significant amount in my major.

4 College Sophomore

Majors: I did not experience any difficulty getting into my program at Castleton State College. My GPA from high school was good and I had a strong computer science background. The application process was not hard, it was through the Common Application which made applying to college much easier. Entrance into Castleton is dependent on a 3.0 GPA in high school as well as community service and extra-curricular activities.

4 College Sophomore

Majors: My program is intense and I have to work hard to achieve my Dean's List status. Much of the work is hands on, but we also have quite a bit of programming work to do outside the classroom. I really like my major and believe it will give me a great advantage as there are multiple opportunities in my field as well as good paying jobs.

2 College Student

Scholarships: I did not get any aid
