Off-Campus Dining: Since we're in a smallish town, there aren't a huge amount of options, but we do enjoy what we have. Besides chain restaurants like McDonalds and Taco Bell, we have great local places like the Japanese Narita's, Mexican El Sazon, and for old-fashioned southern food Lisa's Country Kitchen is a popular place. Just off campus is the incredibly popular Creek Cafe, which serves amazing coffee, ice cream, and a variety of wraps and sandwiches. Once a month, the Global Outreach program from CN hosts an open-mic Coffee House at the Creek, which makes it my favorite eatery/music venue.

Health & Safety: We have a great head of security who always keeps us updated via email on any events that may affect our well-being. Our security team members all show a caring attitude towards students' safety. As a young woman I generally try not to walk alone at night anywhere, including on campus, but during the day I have no qualms about walking across campus on my own. If for some reason one should need police assistance, the local police have a very quick response time and can be on campus in just a couple minutes.

Academics: We have the best professors who are very knowledgable in their fields, as well as generally being helpful both in and outside the classroom. Our professors get to know their students, and small class sizes make our learning environments very hands-on and personal. Registration is easy, especially when most professors are willing to work with your schedule and will discuss registration needs outside of scheduled office hours if need be. Our most popular study area is the main floor of the library, where one can generally find scores of study groups meeting any time after dinner. Personally I prefer to study in the library basement, since it's so silent and the hum of the radiator acts as white noise, which really helps me focus.

Transportation: We're a small campus, so it's easy to get around by walking, biking, and driving. Even if you don't have a car, you can usually find someone willing to drive you around, or you can walk most places without a problem. Long distance is somewhat tricky if you don't have a car, as you'll have to convince a friend to take you to either the Greyhound bus stop in Morristown or the one in Knoxville.

Nightlife: We're a dry campus, so there are no bar/club scenes, and generally parties are off campus. I don't attend them so I don't know what they're like.

Drug Safety: Honestly, you don't notice it unless a student tells you they take part.

4 College Freshman

Nightlife: The nightlife on campus isn't too alive, but Knoxville isn't a long drive, and it is always great there.

3 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: There are a decent amount of apartments available and the price is probably average.

4 College Freshman

Weather: East TN's fall is incredible. The weather, in general is never the same. If you don't like it now, wait a few hours and it will be completely different.

5 College Freshman

Academics: I love my major. The psychology department is really nice and helpful.

4 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: Most policies are very well-enforced. I've gotten away with a couple of parking violations, but it's rare.

4 College Freshman

Parking: I can always find a parking spot at the MSAC. Most other locations are pretty low on parking, but it is very easy to get all over campus on foot.

4 College Freshman

Diversity: Everyone is very accepted. I haven't seen a trace of prejudice.

College Freshman

Transportation: There isn't a public transport system. The campus is small enough to get around on foot. Most restaurants, etc. are also within decent walking distance. I have seen taxis in the area.

3 College Freshman

Scholarships: Went back and forth with financial aid, being told different things all the time, but eventually it was all sorted out and out of the way. My biggest tip would be to get everything sorted out as early as you possibly can.

5 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: The community, students, and staff are very friendly and approachable.
