4 College Sophomore

Nightlife: It low key compared to bigger colleges but there are plenty events and clubs available if you want to have a good time on the weekends.

2 College Freshman

Nightlife: The parties here are all just average. Nothing too crazy.

3 College Sophomore

Nightlife: I don't usually attend late-night events because I commute.

Nightlife: The school has lots of parties around campus on off-campus housing. It is also on the subway line which can take you downtown to all the clubs and bars.

3 College Freshman

Nightlife: The surrounding student houses host a lot of the parties on the weekends and downtown Buffalo has many clubs and bars.

There aren't a ton of house parties at Canisius, but they do exist. However, the Buffalo area has a vibrant nightlife with many clubs, restaurants, and other hot spots from which to choose. Buffalo does have a reputation as a drinking town, and, well, it's sort of true. It's a party city (what else are you going to do while you're snowed in?). Bars abound from downtown to suburbia, although since the legal drinking age is 21, undergrads won't be spending a lot of time there (presumably). Bars, clubs, and the like are usually accessible via the Metro or subway system, and are somewhat affordable, depending on when and where you go. There are some nights (generally Thursdays) that clubs designate for underage college students, with particular events geared toward that age group. Canisius itself has lots of events in the evenings, as well—movie showings, games, presentations, guest speakers, competitions, and so on—to keep students entertained.

Off-campus activities that don't involve clubbing, drinking alcoholic beverages, or listening to Top 40 being played extremely loud can include visits to Shea's Performing Arts Center, the Alleyway or North Park theatres, local movie theaters, bowling alleys, shops, restaurants, concerts, and coffeehouses.

Organization Parties
Clubs and organizations throw parties every once in a while, but they're more likely to schedule more structured events and activities, not "woo-hoo" socialization get-togethers. Departments do have Christmas parties and end-of-semester parties, and the entire student body at Canisius loves "Quad Party," which celebrates the end of the school year in the spring.
Did You Know?
Every year, Buffalo has "Bar Crawl" events, where participants only have to pay $10 and then have access to more than 20 bars and nightclubs all evening, with free cover and $2 to $3 drink specials.
