4 College Senior

Local Atmosphere: I love Grand Rapids, it's just a nice place to be! And you could definitely do worse for both young adulthood as well as raising a family.

3 College Senior

Weather: Shitty weather in the winter. But that's a good thing if you ask me. It kept me from getting too far behind! But shittiness aside it's kind of fun throwing your girlfriend into a snow bank.

5 College Senior

Computers: Lots of different spots have lots of computers. I have never been able to not find and use one. That said its still more convenient to bring your own.

5 College Senior

Off-Campus Dining: An endless cornucopia of options abounds! 28th street is a parade of chains and an absolute ship load of local eateries and bars.

4 College Senior

Scholarships: Lots of options and easy to get within the office of financial aid.

5 College Senior

Academics: Very cool to be an IR guy because we have an intimate group.

5 College Senior

Academics: Some of the best academics around. Excellent and highly reputable engineering, philosophy, political science, and history departments. Nursing program is top notch as well. Growing speech pathology program. Very difficult with high standards but that's how you get a good reputation. We work hard, we play harder

Athletics: By far the best facilities in division III. Just a great place to work out or enjoy sports.

3 College Senior

Campus Strictness: I mean there are rules to abide by, and they are enforced. However the only way to get in trouble is to be foolish. If you aren't foolish, you won't have a problem with any policies. Just don't smoke joints in the pits or drink out on commons lawn and you really should be fine.

Off-Campus Housing: Grand Rapids is a very nice city with a ton of options for housing, from apartments, to close to campus ranches, and urbanish east town with huge craftsman style bungalows. Rent for large four bedroom homes are seldom above $400, often between $250-300 per month per person, which is incredible!

Campus Housing: It's solid. Dorm life is a lot of fun, especially if you're on a solid floor like I was. Most are good, you get, some loser, floor but they're not overly common

College Senior

Greek Life: No greek life no greek life no greek life no greek life

Diversity: It's a Christian Reformed school, so you get quite a bit of different perspectives when considering other Christian colleges.

5 College Senior

Majors: Very professional and caring faculty. They truly want to see you perform at your best. This also means for some rigorous courses, but its worth it.

5 College Senior

Majors: Professor Westra is like Yoda for IR majors. He enjoys interacting with students one on one despite his prima facie intimidating demeanor.

Campus Dining: There is variety in the food. There is a salad bar, a sandwich section, a hot line, and a wellness bar. The ice cream options are great. Really, the food is edible and on any given day you can have something different.

Waffles, bagles, cereal, salads, fruit, rice, dessert, pasta, steamed vegetables, pizza, drinks: it's all there

3 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: Typical students dress simply. There is a lot of involvement in sporty activities and exercise. There are parties if you look for them or have some connections, but typically a social life means hanging out with friends, not necessarily going to parties. There are a lot of couples.

Local Atmosphere: The campus is slower paced. I can catch a bus to downtown Grand Rapids, which has a faster pace but slower than most big cities. There are museums, cafes, restaurants that people can go to. There is a mall within walking distance of campus. We can rock climb, play tennis, racquetball, badminton, basketball, soccer-any sport really.

College Freshman

Majors: I haven't gotten into my program yet, but there is no barrier to it. I just need to declare my major. For admission, I just made sure to show my character and my values more than anything else.

4 College Freshman

Majors: Being in the Kinesiology program is great. The introduction class is not a good indication of what it's like to have this major, but the classes I've taken for the major have been challenging but useful.

College Freshman

Majors: I haven't had an internship, so this is not applicable

3 College Freshman

Majors: I am generally happy with my program. The classes that are cognates of my major are academically challenging, but so informative. I don't have specific career goals. One concern would be whether I could travel with a job that I get from kinesiology.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: I haven't heard of many incidents of crime on campus. Campus security is widely available if you need to get somewhere.

4 College Freshman

Computers: There are plenty of computer labs. Printing is easy, there is no need to get your own printer (unless you print in color often).

3 College Freshman

Parking: There are no costs to getting a parking permit. There really is no need, if you live on campus, for a car.
