Campus Dining: It is not too bad but it could use a lot of improvement.

3 College Senior

Campus Dining: Nothing too fancy as far as dining. There is a burger King, round table pizza, Vietnamese shop, and couple other places that I can't recall.

3 College Junior

Campus Dining: Some more options would be nice.

There's a lot of food on campus, and if you like commercialized fast food, you'll be happy. Burger King, Togo's, Gordito Burrito, and others provide a familiar dining experience that's no more or less healthy than most other places in the world of American dining. Just be prepared for the lines, which are longest in the afternoon. Tens of thousands of students attend Sac State, and they all get hungry. You'll frequently find yourself eating at your second or third choice because the line for the first one was just too long. Though many students don't dislike the available food, they wish for less mainstream and healthier options. Vending machines and student stores sell food and drinks, as well, some for ridiculously cheap prices, but most are certainly not filling. If you want a meal, Doritos and Gatorade just won't cut it.

Residential undergrads are in a bad way if they want their money's worth with the meal plans. The credit on the meal cards is broken down into points, and students who want to convert points into vouchers so they can eat in places besides the Dining Commons get a raw deal. The conversion rate is unfavorable because vouchers cost a lot of points, so carriers can stretch out their credit farther just by sticking to the Dining Commons. Consequently, dorm rats are stuck with Dining Commons food, which most agree isn't too bad, but eating at the same place all the time gets boring. This situation isn't a factor for many students, though, because the vast majority of the Sac State student body lives off campus and, thus, isn't required to purchase a meal plan.
