Health & Safety: Emergency posts are placed throughout the campus and security escorts are available to walk individuals back to their cars in case it is too late at night and the possibility of assault increases. There are still instances on campus, especially in the dormitories, where sexual assaults occur and the news is printed on the campus paper, which is a shock considering the amount of resources that are available throughout the school.

Health & Safety: It is a good place to go to other than the hospital. It close and affordable.

4 College Junior

Health & Safety: I feel safe on campus.

4 College Freshman

Health & Safety: There is security usually all over campus so as I'm walking through campus I feel safe that I will make it from point a to point b safely.

Health & Safety: I wish there would be more security ambassadors for the students who take evening classes and don't feel like taking the risk of getting mugged in the evening because the campus is open-entry meaning anyone can come onto the campus with no problem.

CSUN's security department is pretty extensive, offering a lot of services for students to take advantage of, including crime prevention workshops and viewing crime logs online. It's good that the campus police have a strong presence, as minor offenses like petty theft can happen sometimes. If you're careful with your valuables and don't leave your belongings unattended or unlocked, then you should be OK, though. Aesthetically, the campus offers well-lit pathways, allowing students to walk safely at night. Based on the services and the way the campus is set up, students tend to feel very safe.

When it comes to health services, basic care and routine physicals are free, which is great for the broke college student. Plus, low-cost, over-the-counter products are available to students without a prescription. However, other "alternative" services like acupuncture and massage therapy come at a cost for students, so the health center isn't without its setbacks. All in all, though, if a student gets sick on campus, he or she most definitely can get the right care.
