3 College Freshman

Greek Life: I believe that they parties a lot even though they say it mostly education, but in my experience it is a party life whoever being a Greek.

College Freshman

Greek Life: I haven't been in the school long enough yet to see the greek atmosphere.

3 College Sophomore

Greek Life: There quite a lot of sororities and frats on campus, but Greek life does not have a huge impact on campus. Non-Greeks don't feel obligated to join. Greek students are usually viewed as snobby and cliquey. Greek life is limited because most sororities and frats do not have a house.

College Sophomore

Greek Life: I'm not in a fraternity and have no opinion on Greek life.

Greek Life: You honestly would not know about greek life if it weren't for their tables out the first days of school. They aren't seen as important but they do have a greek quad. It's this place where if you go you feel a bit isolated at first because everyone knows each other there, but they don't look at you like you're stupid if you sit there. To have a party like at CSUN you don't need to be in greek life, but it is useful. You know about ALL the parties and events and you're invited to all of them.

Because CSUN is mainly a commuter school, students often don't get the social atmosphere they would at other universities with more housing options. Thus, getting involved with Greek life is an alternative if you want to feel a sense of unity. Greeks are everywhere, but not so much that they are in your face about it. Of course, rush period can make it seem like Greek life dominates, but other than that, fraternities and sororities don't really stand out all that much. They mostly just participate in fundraisers.

Just as CSUN is diverse in its population, it's also diverse when it comes to the different Greek organizations that are offered. Everything from Christian to Armenian Greek organizations are available for students to join, representing multiple cultures. However, students don't have to go Greek in order to have a social life; it's just easier to have one if they do.
