4 College Freshman

Campus Dining: Lots of dinning to choses with different variety to have everyday the student are there.

5 College Freshman

Campus Dining: CSUN has an on campus El Pollo Loco, Burger King, Panda Express, Subway, and a hamburger/pizza place. The cost is about the same as if you went to a regular fast food place. There is also a salad store and convenience stores that have just about any food, cereal, cup of noodles.

3 College Junior

Campus Dining: If students wish to dine on campus, the café is definitely the place for students to go! They serve a wide variety of meals from breakfast burritos, to salads, to quesadillas; the café has it all! However, the cafe's prices are a bit much. There are however places, relatively close in distance, for to dine at also if they wish to dine off campus.

3 College Junior

Campus Dining: The food you could find on campus is average, however, I'm not a big fan of the dining hall for the dorms.

3 Recent Alumnus

Campus Dining: Theres only one dining hall at CSUN and it's on the last street of the university past the dorms. It is FAR. Especially when the semester just beings and you're at the dorms and you're hungry, you get lazy to walk to the dining hall. The food is terrible, it's basically always the same thing.

Freshmen are not required to have a meal plan, but it's a good idea if you live in the dorms, as it helps ease all of the sudden responsibilities. It's also a good idea to be prepared to get creative with dishes, especially if you want to eat healthy food. Mostly CSUN provides students fast food options like Subway, Burger King, and other establishments you would find at a mall food court. Don't worry: You always have plenty from which to choose—just not a lot when it comes to keeping down the Freshman 15. Staples like pizza and burgers are plentiful, as are coffee joints—Freudian Sip coffee stops are all over campus.

The options may not always be healthy, but the workers in the cafeterias have healthy attitudes, always greeting students with a smile. However, if you are looking for more options than what's available in the cafeterias, your best bet is to venture off campus, as food in the area is much more varied and interesting to the palate. Also, the food off campus is probably as expensive—if not less so—as the cafeteria, and at least you can get what you actually want for the same price.
