Overall ExperienceWhat's This?

Cal Poly students generally have nothing bad to say about their time spent in San Luis. A good part of the permanent-resident community attended Cal Poly once upon a time, which is a testament to how much people love San Luis Obispo. Members of the community enjoy discussing time-tested traditions and activities with current students whenever they run into them. There is absolutely a shared love of Cal Poly throughout the community.

The "learn by doing" philosophy truly does permeate all majors and aspects of campus life, and this is one of the things that sets Cal Poly apart most. Students truly do get the opportunity to collaborate with a wide range of people to get to produce tangible evidence of their degrees. Students are prepared extremely well for after-college life since there are so many opportunities to develop a skill set and grow. When asked about their favorite aspects of Cal Poly, nearly every student will say that "everything," "the people," and "the weather" are their favorite qualities. You can't go wrong with these three!

Facilities: I love how they've tried to make college life easier here at Poly.

Campus Strictness: The campus is strict on the things that they need to be strict about.

Local Atmosphere: The local atmosphere at SLO (San Luis Obispo) is a perfect match for me. It consists of a stress-free atmosphere, all the way maintaining interesting complexities within the town to fulfill every person's lifestyles.

Athletics: Intramural sports are a really great way for people who don't want to commit to the real thing, but still maintain a close relationship with the sport that people love to play.

Off-Campus Dining: Although off-campus dining is preferable to on-campus, still nothing as extravagant as restaurants in the big cities.
