Campus Strictness: If DPS tried any harder it would just get annoying. Stuff like this happens on college campus's one way or another.

Campus Strictness: It is not unlikely to see DPS officers make people poor drinks out but they're pretty fair overall

3 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: Campus strictness is often decided in a fair methodology to grant everyone a chance to explain themselves before a decision is handed out.

Although any student who has been written up before might disagree, RAs and DPS officers are actually pretty nice and helpful, unless you get on their bad side by being overly rowdy and/or disrespectful. They are required to enforce the rules, but their biggest priority is the student's safety and well-being. In other words, if they find you walking dazedly around late at night, they will help you find your way back to your hall safely. But if you yell at them or ignore them when they tell you to shut down your party, expect to be written up. Bryant is not a dry campus, but it does have a fairly strict alcohol and drug policy. The freshman halls are alcohol-free, as is the S.A.F.E. hall. Alcohol is permitted in all other residence halls and townhouses, but is subject to age and amount limitations. Most upperclassmen find it pretty easy to get and keep alcohol in their suites, as long as it is not left lying around in the open. That is not to say that freshmen do not find ways around the rules, too; they are just harder to bend or avoid in the carefully-monitored freshman halls. Any student seen carrying an open container on campus will usually just be told by an RA or DPS officer to pour it out. Bryant is very tough on drugs and has been known to call the Smithfield Police when marijuana (the most common offender) or other drugs are involved. Students have been expelled for serious drug-related offenses (usually selling and/or possession of large quantities). RAs make regular rounds and often ask students to turn down their music during quiet hours (after 11 p.m. on weeknights, 1 a.m. on weekends, and throughout finals period).

All guests must be over the age of 18; otherwise special approval from the VP of Student Affairs or the Dean of Students is required.
