Academic Experience: I am currently in ADN program (Associate Nursing) at Brown Mackie College. Being a nursing student in my school is very stressful at times. Everyone including staff, instructors, and even students have higher expectations for our program than any other program. As a student the workload is almost impossible to grasp because sometimes I have to read up to four chapters a night so I can pass the quiz the next day. As much as it is nerve racking, it is wonderful because then I get to take what I have learned out into the field with me during clinical. I have learned that becoming a nurse has endless opportunities and a chance to advance as much I want in a very diverse field of study.

Tuition & Financial Aid: I know that my education is a bit more expensive than other programs that are available to me; this is somewhat understandable being that I'm in an accelerated program. However, tuition is difficult to manage because I am not able to work due to my student workload. Financial Aid at Brown Mackie is lacking in student support because they do not have additional financing solutions outside of their partnership with Sallie Mae. I have come to a point in my student career that if I do not find additional money I cannot finish my program. I do believe I am receiving a good education, and the tuition is well worth it, but if I had to rate Brown Mackie solely upon their financial aid I would say it is very poor.

Academic Experience: In my point of view, the academic experience is what you as a student make it. Knowing how to access all the possible resources is the key in becoming a successful online student. Having access to email and other references during the course put ease to my mind knowing that additional help was available. On the other hand, the experience takes a lot more energy because I have to act as the student and the teacher at times opposed to being in the classroom and having all the resources handed to me.

Online Courses: At first it was awkward not being in a classroom listening to a teacher and having that necessary guidance that I was used to. Taking classes online takes a lot of discipline. Comprehension of certain materials during the course was difficult at times due to the absence of direct teaching and learning. However, online courses have taught me how to be a better student. Time management, professionalism, and goal prioritizing have all become part of my skill- set as an online student.

Online Courses: I don't have any online courses. However, our homework and all assignments are posted on the student portal. The assignments are to be submitted via the student portal as well. The portal is very easy to navigate. We have full access to our current grade book as well as all prior grades, an online library, student finances, etc.

Tuition & Financial Aid: It is very difficult to get a straight answer. Tuition and fees seem to change constantly. Financial aid will make you go have a meeting with them and not allow you to go to class until you do, therefore, you miss class. The financial aid staff do not seem to care whether you are struggling with paying for your education. They don't seem very competent or knowledgeable about resources to help.

Student Body: The students at my school are here to better their lives and make something of there self. People make friends along the way an but are here to take care of their family first before friends. It helps to try to get to know some people to get threw school or just to help understand something you don't understand.
