1 College Sophomore

Nightlife: Fun things to do, but no clubs, or anything to crazy. Everyone usually is very creative or going on dates

4 College Freshman

Nightlife: Lots of things to do.

3 College Sophomore

Nightlife: There are always a lot of opportunities to go to music shows, dance parties, and dessert parties if you have the time to. At times the social scene just seems to be very repetitive.

4 College Junior

Nightlife: Not much in the way of nightlife or bar/club scene, but that's mostly because the students don't want to go to events like that. Because of this lack, however, students plan a lot of other events that are even more fun and enjoyable!

4 College Freshman

Nightlife: We don't really do parties. I think it's something to do with the lack of alcohol and lack of dancing ability. But where we don't party, we date!

If you are looking for a late night, party-intensive, bar and club scene kind of college experience, BYU is not for you. Because of the BYU Honor Code, drinking is prohibited, and, therefore, there are no big bars near campus. The one club in Provo is not huge; Salt Lake does have a bigger "nightlife scene." Nothing in Provo stays open very late. However, this doesn't mean that students go to bed early. Students tend to be very creative in their free time and have plenty of fun despite the lack of venues. There is a pretty good local music scene, and in the summer, there are always bonfires up the canyon.

The Student Council at BYU tries to fill the void of big
parties by sponsoring big opening and closing parties every semester. Provo city has a few fun ordinances that prohibit big, loud, private parties. So if you are planning on throwing huge raves, don't bother. Provo is basically good clean fun or nothing, so make sure that you are ready to be creative in your spare time.

Organization Parties
Most clubs on campus will have an opening and closing social. These are generally only advertised within the organization, but sometimes, if you watch the boards in the JKHB, you will see flyers announcing socials. These are a great way to meet people with similar interests.

Shows are Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and 10:15 p.m. You'd best get there early, as these shows regularly sell out.

What to Do if You're Not 21What's This?

It doesn't matter in Provo, since there isn't really a bar scene. Twenty-one is a very unfulfilling birthday in Provo, so don't stress if you're not there yet.
