Academics: Best bang for your buck, hands down. There is lots of work involved because it is one of the top colleges, and curriculum is great because you experience new things.

4 College Freshman

Academics: The professors are generally great and some programs (like business) are hard to get into.

5 College Freshman

Weather: They actually have seasons in Utah and it gets cold pretty early in the Fall. But absolutely beautiful.

4 College Freshman

Diversity: Mormons are known to be conservative and white, which is a good 90% of the people here. It's not the best, but there are people of other origins and economic backgrounds, like myself.

5 College Freshman

Majors: My program is English and there are no requirements, just be a good student.

Athletics: Sports are a huge thing here, and events like football/basketball are really enjoyable.

5 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: LOVE LOVE LOVE PROVO!!! It's not a big town, but all the cities are so close together, you don't even notice.

3 College Freshman

Campus Dining: The Cannon Center is okay, but repetitive. But there are many places to eat on campus to get a break.

4 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: There is limited guys because if the mission age, but they are all super sweet and nice.

5 College Freshman

Health & Safety: I always feel extremely safe on campus. There is very limited crime in Provo.

4 College Freshman

Transportation: The bus is a bit on the expensive side, but the FrontRunner that runs throughout Utah is the absolute best.

5 College Senior

Campus Strictness: We follow an Honor Code at BYU. We agree to certain rules and in turn recognize that the rules are for our benefit and the benefit of others. If you don't obey the rules you are the one that is harmed.

5 College Senior

Diversity: Most of the students belong to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The diversity in that aspect is non existent really but everyone is extremely understanding and open to other people and there ideas.

5 College Senior

Academics: The academics at BYU are world class. The professors are nice. The curriculum is worth while and challenging and the studying is good.

5 College Senior

Academics: The Statistics department is world-class. ALL of the professors care about your success. They want to help you succeed and get good interships and jobs.

5 College Senior

Weather: I love the weather here. You have hot summers, cool spring and falls, and snowy winters. It think it's the best.

Local Atmosphere: The local atmosphere is friendly and inviting. It can be hard if you don't know where to go but it is fun when you take the time to find out.

5 College Senior

Drug Safety: Students are NOT allowed to drink, or use any type of drug on or off campus. Use of them can result in expulsion.

A BYU experience is unlike anything else. The things that you will learn go far beyond what is taught in the classrooms, and the people that you will meet are exceptional. Researching the school, and being familiar with the rules and expectations of students, will make the transition smoother and help you get the most out of your BYU experience.

Talking with people who have attended, reading books such as this one, and looking at the BYU Web site (www.byu.edu) are all great ways to make sure that this is really the school for you. If you decide that BYU is what you want, then jump in and enjoy it! You are in for a great and character-building experience.
