Local Atmosphere: Its great! There's lots of things to do, and a lot of places near campus. The Seven Peaks water park is just down the road!

5 College Senior

Athletics: Athletics are great at BYU. The school spirit and school pride makeit easy to get behind the athletics. We have had top In the nation programs in soccer and volleyball and track and cross country, while our football and basketball programs have also been pretty good.

5 College Senior

Facilities: We have recently upgraded many of the athletic facilities which make it niceto use. There are plenty of campus activities for those who want to participate. The campus looks beautiful and is so well maintained that I have not seen another campus quite matching up in its beauty. The mountains nearby also add to this.

5 College Senior

Local Atmosphere: Provo is a nice community with plenty going on. If you want a good social life or a quiet neighbohood, either one is possible. The campus provides great cultural opportunities.

5 College Senior

Academics: There are a lot of oppurtunities within this major. The professors and other academic leaders are seeking to help the students succeed in the future and so there are a lot of extra opportunities available.

5 College Senior

Academics: There are many academic opportunities to get ahead. There are plenty of additional study options and the workload is fairly manageable and it is very possible to maintain a job in addition.

2 College Senior

Greek Life: I am not aware of any real greek housing. There is some availability of academic greek organizations, but outside of that I don't think they really exist on campus.

5 College Senior

Health & Safety: There is a health center just on the outskirts of campus. There are a lot of police for campus, and with that in mind, it is hard to get away with too much.

5 College Senior

Off-Campus Dining: There are a lot of different options for food around campus. Most options around campus fit into a student budget, with nearby downtown options creating more variety.

4 College Senior

Guys & Girls: We have a lot of social interactions. There is a lot of dating and marriage on this campus. It is not hard to find other people with similar interests. There is a dress code which maintains modesty on campus.

3 College Senior

Diversity: We have a lot of international students and ethnic diversity. However, as a religious school, the diversity of beliefs is limited.

4 College Senior

Campus Strictness: The school has a very strict honor code. This creates an environment where academic honor is highly valued. I do not feel that it limits my social life. As a non drinker and non drug user, I feel that it enables me to have a lot of interactions without worrying about compromising who I am.

4 College Senior

Weather: The weather gets a little coldin the winter, but I have not found it too difficult to get to class even when it snows.

4 College Senior

Transportation: I haven't used the public transportation for years in the area. When I did use it, I had no problems.

3 College Senior

Majors: I haven't needed to particpate in an internship for my major. Doing academic research is more important for me. It seems like my friends on campus have all been able to obtain their necessary internships.

5 College Senior

Majors: I have loved my major. It suits my needs and my career goals. The professors are very concerned with the success of students the teach. I am only concerned about career prospects depending on the graduate school I am able to get into.

3 College Senior

Off-Campus Housing: The off campus is relatively controlled based on byu's requirements for byu contracted housing. That being said, it is not hard to find a room to live in thr Provo area.

4 College Junior

Computers: For the most part, the computers are up to date and highly accessible. Wifi is available in all computer labs and library, but is only sometimes available in other places on campus if you're attempting to access a network connection through a personal laptop.

5 College Sophomore

Computers: There are a plenty computers all over campus that you can access. Not only are they accessible there are specific labs with tutors in case you need help learning to do something specific. Different types of computers are accessible all over campus. Printing is made simple by printers being in every building and students need only download the campus driver and can print from their computer, scan their card and get the paper.

4 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Dining: I love the options available to me around campus. I never have trouble finding something if I have a particular craving.

3 College Sophomore

Transportation: Because I drive my car I know fairly little about this stuff. But every year the campus has a fair that teaches students about all of the different transportation options available to students.

4 College Sophomore

Parking: Although spots can fill up quickly on campus the parking passes are free as long as you are a student. Recently the campus has made a push for people driving less to school and have tried to make others ways of getting to campus possible. Most of off campus housing only a short walk from campus.

4 College Senior

Overall Experience: I love my major and I love the school. There is nothing that I would change about my educational experience.

3 College Senior

Parking: Permits are free, tickets can be pretty expensive and they take away your permit if you get too many. You don't need a car, but it's nice to have one.

4 College Senior

Majors: I would not change my major for the world. I would like to go to grad school after I graduate and get some experience under my belt. It's not too difficult to find work and such for people who graduate in my major.

A BYU experience is unlike anything else. The things that you will learn go far beyond what is taught in the classrooms, and the people that you will meet are exceptional. Researching the school, and being familiar with the rules and expectations of students, will make the transition smoother and help you get the most out of your BYU experience.

Talking with people who have attended, reading books such as this one, and looking at the BYU Web site (www.byu.edu) are all great ways to make sure that this is really the school for you. If you decide that BYU is what you want, then jump in and enjoy it! You are in for a great and character-building experience.
