Nightlife: Dorms, Apartments and Church Groups – The dorms and many of the off-campus housing complexes regularly plan parties and get-togethers. Church groups are big at this school, and they are always planning activities for the students as well.

Facilities: BYU is a beautiful campus and strives to keep things as up-to-date as possible. There are several great places for students to gather, a state-of-the-art library with a large genealogy center. There is also the 20,000 seat Marriott Center where basketball games and many other programs are held. There are always many activities going on at any given time for students who want to really be involved and get to know other students.

Campus Dining: Campus Food – I've never really eaten on campus so I'm not sure. Okay variety by the looks of it.

Academics: Elementary Ed – I LOVE my major. I think it is the best program at BYU. The teachers are experienced and willing to put in extra time to help you. The books we read are fascinating. The assignments are worthwhile. They assign you to a school your entire time in the program, that way you are more likely to find a teaching position upon graduation--great system!

Athletics: The Athletics Department is awesome! Every event you go to is entertaining and very successful. It's so much fun.

Guys & Girls: Guys and Girls – Everyone is great and super friendly. As far and looks go everyone is very clean cut which is very understandable :)

Off-Campus Housing: There are lots of housing options if you act quite and they are all pretty decent. The trick is that you have to make sure its BYU approved housing so you have to be on top of it to get the places you want at a reasonable prive.

Overall Experience: Breath of Fresh Air – Being at BYU has been like taking a vacation from the world. I feel completely comfortable here, knowing I won't be persecuted for my religion or beliefs. I don't have to be around drugs, alcohol, foul language, or other things that make me uncomfortable. I know those things are prevalent in the world, and I'll be around them again when I graduate, but it has been so nice to have a break from it for a few years.

Campus Strictness: Strict Is a Relative Term – BYU is an excellent place for students who want to be around others with the same values as they cherish. There is an honor code that each student must sign and abide by, but the types of students who typically aim for a BYU education will live those standards, anyway. If someone doesn't want to abide by the rules, they are welcome to attend another university. If you are someone who doesn't want to be forced to be around inappropriate sex, drugs, or alcohol, BYU is a place where you can be completely free from it.

Computers: There are always computers available in the Harold B. Lee Library computer labs at Brigham Young University--it's really nice for students undergoing financial struggles who can't find the money for a laptop. Easy access to technology is important in any university course (be it for research, essays, etc.), and BYU does a great job providing its students with the necessary resources.

Facilities: A Higher Place – as a private school it has stricter rules and standards, it makes it wonderful not to have to be around drugs or alcohol and to know people around you have high standards. Religion is incorporated into most classes in some way. There are a lot of service opportunities and ways to be involved on campus, and our sports teams are awesome

Transportation: most of the times its pretty much walking distance for most students, parking is horrible so you try to use a car to campus as little as possible. some do use the bus, but unfortunately at the end of this year the school discount will be no longer available

Weather: BYU is up in the mountains so we get four beautiful seasons. The summers are warm to hot, but not bad. The spring and fall can be just beautiful. The winter is not too cold and we get wonderful snow. We have weather here for people of all seasons.

5 College Sophomore

Guys & Girls: Beautiful People – The people here are wonderful. You will find very few places where you find such friendly and happy guys and girls. The is a great diversity from all over the country and the world so if desired one can get exposure to just about every culture. Dress is the best you will find anywhere else in the country. The women are very attractive. There are many married couples here as well.

Off-Campus Dining: I Don't Dine Out. I don't dine out so I don't know anything about it here.

Athletics: BYU athletics are fantastic! The football, basketball, volleyball and all other sports games are so much fun and the student body is very involved.

5 College Junior

Local Atmosphere: Friendly and Fun – There are tons of activities on and off campus - lots of performances in the arts, plenty of sports, and abundant dating opportunities. Almost everyone is friendly and helpful, just really nice people. There are a few malls you can get to with a car, and Salt Lake City is about 45 minutes away. Provo's really Mormon, of course, but that means there's very little crime, almost no drunks wandering around, and lots of food.

Transportation: There is a campus bus system if you have a pass, but most people walk or have a car. You can walk a lot to get around, but it is doable.

Facilities: Campus Life – The campus is absolutely beautiful and sitauted at the base of the mountains. Although the school is old, the buildings are kept up very well. The student body is very friendly.

Academics: Business, Accounting and Law Programs – The business, accounting, and law programs are all very highly ranked.

Health & Safety: It's Great – I have no complaints and I'm healthy and safe at BYU.

4 College Junior

Facilities: Good Environment for Conservative Students – BYU is an excellent place for more conservative students. Most parties around campus and all parties on campus are alcohol-free. Entertainment is all family appropriate. It is fantastic! BYU has one of the best education programs. So many great teachers come from here.

College Junior

Greek Life: Brigham Young University does not have any fraternities or sororities.

Off-Campus Housing: Great Variety of Apartments – There are so many choices when looking for housing. My experience with landlords has been wonderful. Some apartments are cheap but there are also nicer, more expensive apartments. So many great choices within walking distance to campus!

A BYU experience is unlike anything else. The things that you will learn go far beyond what is taught in the classrooms, and the people that you will meet are exceptional. Researching the school, and being familiar with the rules and expectations of students, will make the transition smoother and help you get the most out of your BYU experience.

Talking with people who have attended, reading books such as this one, and looking at the BYU Web site (www.byu.edu) are all great ways to make sure that this is really the school for you. If you decide that BYU is what you want, then jump in and enjoy it! You are in for a great and character-building experience.
