Nightlife: Night Life – Due to the fact that BYU is a religious school, the night life is basically non-existent. There are occasional dances, movies and parties, but all are without alcohol and typically end around one or two in the morning. However, because of the religion that we live, we're perfectly okay with this. We don't drink, we don't do drugs, we live chaste lives and yet our kinds of parties are filled with good company, good laughs and the things that matter most.

Nightlife: Safe but Still Fun – the honor code at BYU protects agains any illegal activities at parties and other events. some of the land lords are pretty strict about curfue but you don't need to stay up all night to have fun.

Athletics: Huge Sports Following – BYU sports are awesome. the entire studentbody is involved and the teams are always good. going to the games is a lot of fun and the facilities are great. itramural sports are really fun and almost everyone participates in atleast one activity.

Campus Housing: living on campus is a blast. there are so many interesting people and the social activities are so much fun. living in the dorms is great, especially with the new buildings being so close to the classes. it seems a little expensive but that's just because this is the first time i've every had to pay for housing.

Health & Safety: Home and Safe – I don't think I have every felt unsafe at BYU. Everyone there looks out for eachother and reaches out to anyone. the close-nit atmoshpere makes you feel safe and at home.

Local Atmosphere: Extremely Spiritually Oriented – there is so much to do on campus and most of it is very spiritually oriented. the people are all really friendly and outgoing and the school activities are lots of fun.

Scholarships: Don't Procrastinate! There are plenty of scholarships, but many of them require the FAFSA to be completed before the school's scholarship deadline. Get it done early so you don't get left out in the cold. Also look up the Office of Prestigious Scholarships; it's the best kept financial aid secret ever!

Parking: Crap on Wheels – Cars aren't necessary, thank goodness, because trying to find parking within your permit allowance is a major hassle. They're always doing construction somewhere, and they always take up so much space doing it. If you want parking, you have to go to the stadium lot on the other end of campus.

5 College Freshman

Drug Safety: Nonexistent Drug Scene – Due to BYU's Honor Code, students who attend do not participate in any drugs or controlled substances. Nobody on campus drinks, either. Off campus, I hear it's a little prevalent, but on campus and in the areas surrounding it (up till downtown), there is no problem with drugs.

Campus Housing: I always lived off campus as it was cheaper and I liked my own rules and to cook myself.

Guys & Girls: The girls at BYU are amazing, thier nice, and incredibly attractive.

Health & Safety: I am enrolled to go here for Fall 2012, and from the campus tours I've taken, the campus is incredible, students are really helpful and friendly, and it's a very strong school that I look forward to becoming a part of.

Academics: From what I've heard, most of the professors are well-qualified, and very helpful in teaching the students what will be on thier finals.

Facilities: Sober Campus – BYU is a dry campus and i actually really love that. It gives mem more time to focus on my studies and i can always make it to class. There is no one here that is high or drunk all the time so there are no crazy distractions. Everyone here came here to work and study and get a good education and i love that. It makes the atmosphere on campus great and the social life is fun because you can still remember it the next day!

Overall Experience: Most Amazing School – BYU has such a fantastic atmosphere and is a great way to learn. It is really fun and although our social scene is a little different from other schools it is amazing and i really love it. Everyone here is so nice and classes are actually fun!

4 College Freshman

Transportation: Walking or Biking – Everything is located very close to campus and so it is easiest to walk or bike as parking is hard. However there are buses if needed and they can be useful and they run pretty well.

3 College Freshman

Athletics: Lots of Spirit! The athletics are pretty good. Some years some sports are good, and some years they are bad. Overall, BYU has great team spirit.

4 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: Pleasant Environment – BYU's campus is extremely safe. People are very friendly and courteous to one another. Those who to adhere to the Honor Code are very honest. There is very little cheating or stealing. The typical party scene is pretty much non-existant because most people don't drink, smoke, etc. There are fun sporting events, three malls close by, and plenty of hiking attractions.

Academics: I have not been accepted to my program yet, so I can't give an informed opinion on the Special Education at BYU. However, as a previous undeclared major, I know that the Academic Advisement centers are extremely helpful. BYU offers great career exploration course and introductory classes to certain majors.

Weather: The weather changes drastically and will go from 60 degrees to snowing within 24 hours. It's kind of ridiculous

Guys & Girls: The guys at BYU are all clean cut, good looking guys. Most of them are looking for committed relationships in contrast to the stereotypical college one night stand. They dress well, enjoy group activities and a great deal of dating. Many of them are looking for marriage after they get home from their church missions.

5 College Freshman

Facilities: General Campus – Campus is well kept up; the buildings are pretty nice and they keep the grounds looking great year round. It's a gorgeous campus.

Overall Experience: What You Make of It – Being at BYU depends on what you decide to make of your experience. It has been fun and I do enjoy it here, but it is hard getting used to being away from home if you have no family here. Living on cmpus is challenging and the dorms are small, but I have met some amazing people. It is more diverse then you would think and the campus has activites all the time. The devotionals are amazing and all of the professors really care about the students.

A BYU experience is unlike anything else. The things that you will learn go far beyond what is taught in the classrooms, and the people that you will meet are exceptional. Researching the school, and being familiar with the rules and expectations of students, will make the transition smoother and help you get the most out of your BYU experience.

Talking with people who have attended, reading books such as this one, and looking at the BYU Web site (www.byu.edu) are all great ways to make sure that this is really the school for you. If you decide that BYU is what you want, then jump in and enjoy it! You are in for a great and character-building experience.
