4 College Junior

Facilities: Libraries and green spaces are great. However, the recreation center needs remodeling.

Facilities: One of the prettiest campuses. The athletic center could use some work and I think it is in the 10-year-plan.

Facilities: I dont know that there is really anything "unique" about it just that it was the best fit for me and a wonderful experience

4 College Freshman

Facilities: Our gym (aka "The Plex") really stinks to put it quite simply. It is tiny and depressing and basically everyone envies Boston University's amazing fitness center. The libraries are awesome, especially Bapst library which basically looks like Hogwarts. The other main library, O'Neill library, is also really nice, especially during finals as both these libraries are open 24-7 and give the students free cookies and coffee. While the months that students usually reside at Boston College are covered in snow and usually quite cold, the fall and spring is quite lovely on campus as there are many green areas and the school does a beautiful job of landscaping the campus. Boston College is full of traditions such as the student fair day down Linden Lane and convocation. In addition, Boston College students are very supportive of the football, hockey, and basketball team. These events often have quite lively and inappropriate chants that really show the school's spirit. White Mountain ice cream right off of lower campus is a frequent meeting place for many students and groups.

Facilities: Boston College has an amazing closed in campus with all the building recently refurbished. While Boston College is technically not in the city of Boston but rather Chestnut Hill, there is not much roar and chaos up near the school, however due to the city's amazing transportation system, it is quite easy to take a simple and cheap T ride into the city. One of Boston College's greatest assets is its proximity to the city of Boston, not only for the social scene but also for future internships and job opportunities. Due to the proximity to Boston, I have already attended four concerts in just my first semester of school, so there are plenty of cool events happening right near by. The Carroll School of Management is currently ranked number six for undergraduate business and the program is really good, as students are immediately immersed into the field of business even in the first semester of freshman year.

The facilities at Boston College always receive mixed reviews. The athletic center for the student athletes is exceptional, but unfortunately, isn’t open to non-athlete students. The Plex is where everyone else works out, and while it does have a wide variety of amenities—group workouts, indoor track, tennis courts, pool, sauna, weight machines, cardio machines, basketball courts, and more—it is usually extremely crowded and hot, so be prepared to wait for a machine.

When it comes to the student center, don’t bother looking—there isn’t one. This doesn’t really seem to be a problem for BC students, though, because everyone functions just fine without one. McElroy, a building on Middle Campus, currently acts as a sort of student center. It has an area with couches and vending machines where many students gather in between classes, and it also has three dining halls—Eagle’s Nest, The Chocolate Bar, and Carney’s—which are very popular during lunch hours.

Favorite Things To Do
Favorite things to do include play Frisbee or catch in the Dustbowl, hang out in Hillside Café, catch a show at Robsham Theater, get a coffee or chocolatey dessert in The Chocolate Bar, or play sports in The Plex. Student activity on campus is usually very dependent on the weather! In the warmer months, you're likely to find your friends hanging out in the Dustbowl-playing Frisbee or soaking in the sun while they read. The Quad is also a popular place for students to congregate and is used especially to advertise upcoming student events. During the wintery months, students avoid the outdoors like the plague. Although there have been a few snowman sightings, students are more likely to be found hanging out in The Rat or Eagle's Nest dining halls drinking hot coffee and spending time with friends. McElroy Commons has an area with couches and vending machines that is commonly used as a meeting spot for BC students. And, of course, there are also school-sponsored events to attend, such as athletic events, shows, dances, and more. Keep your eyes open and you're sure to find something fun to do!

Did You Know?
O'Neill Library has recently undergone some serious changes! The library is now open earlier, is adding more electrical outlets for laptop users, and even has free earplugs for those who want to study in total silence. Additionally, there is a new leisure reading kiosk on the main level of the library where you can stop in between classes to catch up on your newspaper and magazine reading.
