4 College Freshman

Majors: Applied Psychology and Human Development is one of the three Lynch School of Education programs and it is great! If you are interested in social work or helping people in the future (human resources, social policy, ect.) it is one of your best options.

3 College Freshman

Athletics: While everyone at BC is really in to athletics (Varsity and Intramural) the facilities for non-varsity athletes are not great; yet they are clean and everyone uses them. Under Armour sponsors the schools Varsity athletics and the facilities and gear provided for athletes are very nice. Hockey is the biggest draw to athletics, everyone goes to the games and the Beanpot is really fun! In the fall Football is a big deal even though the team is not great.

3 College Freshman

Diversity: The AHANA community is very close with each other. Everyone is very accepting no matter what race or sexual orientation you are.

4 College Freshman

Nightlife: Pretty average and not too crazy/intense.

Overall Experience: I love it here :)

3 College Freshman

Majors: There are a good amount to choose from.

4 College Freshman

Scholarships: Montserrat Coalition could be more open to all.

3 College Freshman

Diversity: It's a bit challenging to be a minority.

4 College Freshman

Academics: Sciences definitely could be better.

3 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: It could be more strict.

3 College Freshman

Health & Safety: It's good but still room for improvement.

College Freshman

Drug Safety: Individuals do drugs on every college campus.

4 College Junior

Off-Campus Housing: It is relatively easy to obtain off-campus housing.

4 College Junior

Academics: Being a Psychology major is just fine. I really enjoy this program and the curriculum is interesting. There is also flexibility in what you want to focus on. However, currently you cannot minor in Psychology.

3 College Junior

Diversity: At first it may seem like there is not much diversity on campus, because many students try to fit in to their idea of what it means to look or act like a BC student. However, when you have deeper conversations with people, you can be surprised to find that people come from a variety of backgrounds.

3 College Junior

Weather: The weather in New England can vary often. In the Fall and Spring it is quite nice, but we can have pretty brutal winters.

4 College Junior

Health & Safety: The health office is very helpful and always easily accessible to students. I always feel pretty safe on campus.

4 College Junior

Nightlife: Nightlife is pretty great at BC for the first two years. After that, you get used to the social scene and it can become quite boring, but there is always the city of Boston to explore!

3 College Junior

Campus Strictness: Boston College is a very strict campus, but you can still have a great social experience.

4 College Junior

Majors: It is easy to select your major and there is a great academic advising system for students to use.

4 College Junior

Majors: There are plenty of opportunities at Boston College to figure out what you would like to do, you just have to take the time to explore. I am not really concerned about finding a job in my field, BC has a great career center.

4 College Junior

Transportation: The Boston transportation is really great, you can get anywhere simply using the T system. However, it can take longer to get to certain places if you don't have a car.

College Junior

Greek Life: Boston College does not have Greek life. However, there are local Boston chapters which students can join.

3 College Junior

Scholarships: BC is a very expensive school to attend, but it is worth it for the academics and the Jesuit education you receive.

The general feeling seems to be that Boston College is a wonderful school and an incredible experience. However, the first few years can be tough, as you may not be prepared for the enormity of the college experience. If you’re from a very diverse high school, you will certainly be shocked at the very different atmosphere that will surround you at BC. Furthermore, so many of your peers can appear like they’re having the time of their lives, and you might feel like you’re faking it, especially at first. Yet, staying the course is absolutely worth it, as Boston College is a wonderful institution with many dynamic people who will truly challenge and amaze you. If you give the school a little time to grow on you, it certainly will and you’ll be really glad you gave it
a chance.

Also keep in mind that while parties and tailgates are enjoyable, they are not the only things college life is about. Yes, you want to have fun, and you will once you get to know people a little better, but there are other reasons you came here. Remember that you are going to college to receive an exceptional college education, and Boston College will certainly deliver that and then some. Friendships flourish, enriching academics abound, and you’ll walk away a changed person.
