3 College Sophomore

Off-Campus Housing: It can be a rat race. There are lots of apartments but kids snatch them up left and right. Boston prices are quite high so you have to hunt to find a deal.

3 College Freshman

Parking: Don't try to park on campus with out a pass, you will have a ticket in a few hours.

4 College Freshman

Off-Campus Housing: There are a ton of houses right off of campus. BC runs a shuttle with a few stops in the main off campus area. Juniors typically move off campus.

4 College Freshman

Guys & Girls: Vineyard Vines, J. Crew, and BC clothing are standard. Most people fall in to the 'preppy' stereotype.

5 College Freshman

Off-Campus Dining: Anything you could want is no more than 20mins away.

5 College Freshman

Campus Dining: There are a ton of options and the quality is very high. Not all of the dining locations are on meal plan.

4 College Freshman

Local Atmosphere: It is very easy to get in to Boston to go hang out on Newbury or visit other schools (BU, Harvard, MIT, Northeastern)

2 College Freshman

Drug Safety: The social scene revolves around drinking anywhere form one to three nights a week. If you're into it it's really fun, but if you're not there are not many other options.

2 College Freshman

Transportation: Living on Newton and having to deal with the shuttle is kind of annoying, but it is pretty reliable.

3 College Freshman

Campus Housing: Some freshman are put on the Newton satellite campus which is about a mile and a half down the road. There is a bus that runs back and forth and another that runs down Com. Ave to the area of most off campus housing. Freshman live in standard doubles and then most people move in to suite style housing.

4 College Freshman

Nightlife: A lot of the parties are off campus and you it helps to know someone there. Sports teams throw a lot of parties.

3 College Freshman

Campus Strictness: If you are calling attention to what you are doing you will get written up, but the concequenses are minimal the first few times.

3 College Freshman

Weather: Winter is long and cold, but they do a good job managing the ice and snow around campus.

College Freshman

Computers: Most people use their own personal laptop.

3 College Freshman

Majors: There are not a ton of options for majors. If you're undecided you apply to A&S but if you have any chance of wanting to do something in ones of the specialized schools its best to apply to them. Inter-school transfers are difficult.

4 College Freshman

Majors: Applied Psychology and Human Development is one of the three Lynch School of Education programs and it is great! If you are interested in social work or helping people in the future (human resources, social policy, ect.) it is one of your best options.

3 College Freshman

Athletics: While everyone at BC is really in to athletics (Varsity and Intramural) the facilities for non-varsity athletes are not great; yet they are clean and everyone uses them. Under Armour sponsors the schools Varsity athletics and the facilities and gear provided for athletes are very nice. Hockey is the biggest draw to athletics, everyone goes to the games and the Beanpot is really fun! In the fall Football is a big deal even though the team is not great.

3 College Freshman

Diversity: The AHANA community is very close with each other. Everyone is very accepting no matter what race or sexual orientation you are.

4 College Freshman

Nightlife: Pretty average and not too crazy/intense.

4 College Freshman

Campus Housing: More stressful than it has to be

5 College Freshman

Overall Experience: I love it here :)

3 College Freshman

Majors: There are a good amount to choose from.

4 College Freshman

Scholarships: Montserrat Coalition could be more open to all.

3 College Freshman

Diversity: It's a bit challenging to be a minority.

4 College Freshman

Academics: Sciences definitely could be better.

The general feeling seems to be that Boston College is a wonderful school and an incredible experience. However, the first few years can be tough, as you may not be prepared for the enormity of the college experience. If you’re from a very diverse high school, you will certainly be shocked at the very different atmosphere that will surround you at BC. Furthermore, so many of your peers can appear like they’re having the time of their lives, and you might feel like you’re faking it, especially at first. Yet, staying the course is absolutely worth it, as Boston College is a wonderful institution with many dynamic people who will truly challenge and amaze you. If you give the school a little time to grow on you, it certainly will and you’ll be really glad you gave it
a chance.

Also keep in mind that while parties and tailgates are enjoyable, they are not the only things college life is about. Yes, you want to have fun, and you will once you get to know people a little better, but there are other reasons you came here. Remember that you are going to college to receive an exceptional college education, and Boston College will certainly deliver that and then some. Friendships flourish, enriching academics abound, and you’ll walk away a changed person.
