Academic Flexibility: The school is good for the kinds of careers that are in the area. I think the instructors know their subject matter well. I think what holds a lot of them back from getting more in depth is the fact that Blackhawk doesn't offer more specialized degrees. The degrees are kind of the run-of-the-mill tech degrees. I don't know what limits this, the community or the administrators.

5 College Junior

Campus Resources: There's always something going on, whether it be a free movie night or an educational workshop. Things to help with computers, demonstrations on some new thing, lots goes on at Blackhawk.

4 College Junior

Career Services: There are a lot of alumni that you can get in touch with from your specific program and always an opportunity to network and find a job.

4 College Junior

Tuition & Financial Aid: The school is very affordable, and I have had no problems with the financial aid process. They do have some sudden deadlines for tuition that can sneak up on you but they have payment plans and stuff to help you through it.

3 College Senior

Career Services: The career center is very informational and helpful. The alumni network is very strong and dedicated. I have heard from people that they help you with finding work. I am going back to finish so I have not experienced it yet.

4 College Junior

Academic Experience: the teachers all know what theyare doing. they will always offer to stay after class or come in earlly just to help out any student thatneedsthe help or just wants somemore practice.

Academic Flexibility: i go to blackhawk tech they are very great there most of them will go above and behond what theyhave to do. im a disabled vetran from iraq and they walk me thru everything that i have to do to get ready for school. my mom just died and they have helped methru alot with that by teachers calling and checkingon me and they offer free concling to me whenever i need it if it wasnt for them the procces would of been alot harder. they broke down all my classes and told me how to succide in that class and they doso much more just to much to list.

Academic Experience: I think BTC is a good college to attend. I do not believe, whatsoever, that it is one of the top notch schools that I wish it could be. I cannot afford a school like that nor am I in the proper location. I think that the teachers are very helpful with the knowledge within the courses.

2 College Junior

Career Services: I am not positive about this. I have not had to go to the central campus, which is where mostly everything big is held. I believe they do help students in some way to further themselves. I am just not sure what they do to help us. I know they do have workshop too.

4 Recent Alumnus

Academic Experience: IT is terrible. Really it is. I didnt learn anything, because the teachers dont know anything.

5 Recent Alumnus

Academic Experience: They suck. The teaching staff is not knowledgeable. The students are in their 40s and stupid as...I don;t even know. THis place sucks.

Academic Flexibility: Pretty Fair – My written communication class is fantastic, the only problem is I have to turn in all my online quizzes in asap by September 11th, but I cant seem to find them.

On the other hand my Introduction to Microsoft Suits class, its very frustrating, everything is done online, but the teacher herself was not very thorough on how to use it or what to do, plus we need a specific program for the class which I do not have, and is not provided outside the school, for someone like me who has work all the time its very frustrating because I need to go INTO the school to get anything done. And I do not have the money to cough up for the program.

Tuition & Financial Aid: A Tad Frustrating – I understand that this is something you have to do once a year, but lets just say the process is not very... user friendly? After completing my FAFSA and knowing I have to wait to get it, I was told afterwords that they do not take copies of your taxes for a loan I needed, and that I had needed to "link them" to my FAFSA and after successfully attaching my family members, it would not link up with my own. I went in to tell them so, showed them and they did end up helping me out, but by this time I was already half way though my first week of collage and I had NO BOOKS! causing me to be in a panic for having things be late. It did not help that my job was handing me extra hours so I had even less time to work on anything I needed for collage.

4 College Junior

Campus Resources: Just Fine – The computer network hasn't really had any major problems at this school. There are always computers available and they give you forewarning if something is going to be down because of maintenance.

3 College Junior

Online Courses: Be Attentive – I personally have never taken an online course through Blackhawk, but in the past I have taken a few from a different college. Honestly make sure you pay attention to detail, especially when it comes to due dates and studying patterns. Online courses are great for working students who can't attend classes on campus and would benefit to being able to work at their own pace. Online courses aren't for everyone.

4 College Junior

Student Body: Hardworking People – Many students take classes, while having families, jobs and other responsibilities. The student body itself is actually quite diverse, different ethnic groups, ages and backgrounds are all represented at Blackhawk Technical College.

4 College Junior

Academic Flexibility: I have been lucky enough to get great teachers this semester. They're understanding, educated, and willing to work with you.

3 College Junior

Student Body: Adults Still Act Like Children – Some of the students are very disrespectful and rude. They're uncivilized and act as if they have no manners what so ever; There's no compassion.

1 College Freshman

Career Services: Career Center – BTC's Career Center is lacking in support for students in this career guidance and what is available to the student.

1 College Freshman

Campus Resources: Computer Labs – There are not enough computer labs for instructors to hold their classes in.

3 College Freshman

Student Body: The student body is very diverse from ethnic groups to social class groups.

3 College Freshman

Campus Resources: Athletic Center – BTC offers a small but nice work out center. They should expand it to put in more treadmills.

4 College Freshman

Academic Flexibility: Intro to Sociology – Flexible, evening classes, no trick tests, good class discussions.

4 College Sophomore

Student Body: There is a lot of diversity at Blackhawk tech, age, ethinicity, types of people. This is a great school for displaced workers

3 College Sophomore

Campus Resources: They had scheduled activities every thursday during the normal lunch hour
